Johann Pachelbel 1653 - 1706

Did you ever find one melody to be particularly haunting, I have found in past and present one to be quite the same, I get chills & sometimes find tears with one special piece, Canon in D by anyone but especially Pachelbel, by name� His canon does remind me of my ocean, His canon does put me on my shore, His canon does for me what drugs do for some, His canon does for me what meditation does for others, His canon is the end all of life, the beginning of living anew� his Canon in D does for me what I would hope he wished for , He brings me closer to Nature, He makes me appreciate beauty, He makes me cry, he brings on chills, He gives me natural thrills� This may not be more than a bore, For some this music is too repetitive, Over and over the same, No way for me though will it ever be lame, Johann Pachelbel knew quite well the score� � ed ~ 5/16/06

A very beautiful poem and you are right, sometimes there is this one piece that just changes your state of mind whenever you hear it. Pachelbel was indeed great.

Ed, your words reflct the very cadence and swell of the Canon. Thanks for waking me up with music that will stay with me all day! (It's Bach's concerto for 2 violins that holds me in the same trance, but Pachelbel is a close second, for sure.)

Wondered where you were, Ed;-)! I think you'd be surprised how many love that work of his. You have paid him a fitting tribute! Well done! I've used that as background for a few poems.
