Poem Artwork

Out of Haight Ashbury they came,

Seeking & finding fortune and fame,

Less a finger did not make his future lame,

Acid, dope, dust & smack burned each’ brain…

A powerful ability to create a following,

A hundred & fifty or more shows to hear them sing,

Jazz riffs, acid rock, country they did of it all wing,

No crown needed but Jerry was still king…

Ever now or forever dead,

To death they were ultimately led,

Life I would have given in their stead,

I look forward to that day when I do die,

To see again and hear him play,

This I say with all truth as I cannot my love deny…

The Grateful Dead was the best road band ever! They really sucked at getting into a studio and getting the job done, though, so no record label was willing to keep them for very long. Yep I miss Jerry and the three-day shows with the campouts and all the great food as well as great music and a fun crowd. Now I just eat the Cherry Garcia Ice Cream and think of him.
Take care,
Sherry

Thanks for a dash at the past. They were individuals who had their own music and thus, one heck of a following.
Thanks for the memories.

Just enjoy what they left behind, Ed, and look forward to living.

They may have had burned brains, but their talent shined. Very nice.
