Poem Artwork

Feeling melancholy of late,

Remembrances come, some great,

Others seem to trickle in my brain,

Running they are against the grain…

My hometown before many storms,

A wooden boardwalk, splinters common,

Under the boards, shaded and cool,

Money found lying on the surface,

Dropped through the cracks,

Escaping of tourists, the swarms…

The movies on the pier,

The waves underneath,

Shaking the building, causing fear,

The old scary movies there,

Shaking we did of our teeth,

To no one else would I this memory bequeath…

Excellant poem! Yes it does take me back. I do remember oh so well. I do love the pic. The shore was such a haven, for me, although when you are a kid, you don't think like that. All you think about is living forever & having fun with your friends...Thank you for the trip down memory lane....

Shaky shanty sea towns are best kept in memory. Before the sea claims them.

When we were 50 inches tall we could play for hours, in another shore boardwalk pushing a iron ring with a stick. (no batteries necessary then) low on food and luxury, but that kind of laughs I don't hear anymore.
Thanks for the memories.

ED - well done - Fond memories of Things Past ...

I looked real, real close with a magnifying glass, and saw you right there at that stand - Gobbling down two Coney Island Hot-Dogs with mustard, chili, and onions, and chasing them with a 5-cent green glass bottle of Coca-Cola !!!

YUM! TK

Oh did you see those beach boys under the boardwalk was that a great memory too. How wonder it was to go to the shore, I can't imagine how wonderful it was to grow up there. Minus the hurricans of course. Lovely Melancholy write my friend. Love, Bonnie
