A block off the beach,
The most that school did of me teach,
Was a better way to surf,
And staying off school turf...

Poem Artwork

Memories abound,

Graduated 72’ around,

Learn anything did I,

Put it this way,

Wasn’t college bound…

Rene there too,

Nothing but a zoo,

Being blond, both had no clue,

Not much there had I grew…

Was I a geek, a nerd, a jerk,

Who cares now, might have been a perk,

Left alone, though had some friends,

Seems they treated us like we were locked up in pens…

Herded from class to class,

Immaturity made me the teacher sass,

Worth little was my there education,

Added to my life’s overall frustration…

ED - except for the steps & trees, could be my old Alma mater, Southern H.S.

sounds like you were a - rebel-rousing, anti-establishmentarian HIPPY even way back then.

at what point & age did you join THE SERVICE? Could it be that a JUDGE gave you a CHOICE?

8 Weeks of Basic Trng. usually gives a young mind some Direction!

AM I CLOSE ??? TK

I remember my graduations speakers saying once you get out of high school you leave the best years behind. That was so true up til now, I think. At my grandson's graduation and at my grandaughter's grad they said look to the future and make the best of yourself. You got a good start now use it. I love to hear grad speakers and will go to another grandson's this spring. Looking forward to the speakers.

Ed, any high school a block off the beach can't be that bad.
I've often thought of what it would be like to go on
an Ocean City high. -gene.

Don't berate your education, what was - learn from life, which is the best teacher of all, and help others to avoid the mistakes we made - the best lesson of all. :) Well done, Ed.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

And congratulations on getting your diploma: you accomplished SOMETHING that many others can't say they did.
