Poem Artwork

Body-surfing was an art,

Those of us living on the island knew how,

We did it so well one could call our experience polished,

So many “summer” kids asked us to teach them how,

We all became friends, some even staying on into our teens,

I did of these “summer” friends try to,

Of body-surfing knowledge impart…

We took our new friends home to meet our folks,

Usually mom gave us a hot dog and a coke,

Then back we’d go to the ocean to get soaked,

It seemed a better time, before we hit puberty,

None of us then did smoke, mostly with each other we just joked…

On “bad” days we played inside,

Board games and such, watching the ocean tide,

We were all the best of friends, why did we have to grow,

To become who we are today, to know the world better,

To see all its mistakes & discover our own personal woe…

Though I never surfed this one made me think of warm summer days and the ocean so I have to give it a big thumbs up.

Substance for reflection, Ed. Why indeed? Love and peace,

Whoops... sounds like you got momma in hot water Mr. spoiled rotten kid! hehe... anyway... wish we could go back to those truly innocent days of simple joys and naive pleasures.... growing up we couldn't do fast enough, now we can't stop it.... at any rate, you know what you did was great...and now what you do can be greater!!!! you are still young and full of spunk...and so much talent.... hugs, lindalaw

So, that's were all the hot-doggies went? Ma always said she didn't remember to buy some.
I hope that the number three will be Forgetting Me, you glutton spoiled brat of a brother(?)

I always suspected that you and your buddies ate all the hot dogs in the house. Ma always just gave me bologna sandwiches, and you probably gobbled down 10 hot dogs yourself. I'm gonna call Ma right now, and ask her.
