Very well written, ol' buddy. And to top it off, there are plenty of people in this country all around us right now who share some or all of his twisted philosophy. I'm neither a leader nor a follower, but somehow manage to exist within my own little vaccuum.

If you read his biography, the Vienna Art Institute turned him down for entry after looking at his paintings, which were predominantly architectural. If we could change history, we could go back, and tell them to accept him, no matter what, to keep him out of World War I, and on down the slow slide. After all, art is subjective, so what would it matter? Come to think of it, poetry is subjective. I wonder who the monsters are among us being kept contented......Jerry

I'm with Jasmin. I had a discussion with my Humanities prof about Hitler. We didn't see eye-to-eye. I said the same thing-that we all have that potential within us. Of course she spent some time in a concentration camp so she saw the evil first-hand. Placing Hitler in a separate category is dangerous. This is a way of denying it in ourselves. All it takes is indoctrination. Make a group of people considered less than human and people are capable of any atrocity. Like George said, most people tend to run with the pack. Any difference in other people makes them a threat and brings out fear. Wow this is a deep write, Ed!

Mr Bushler, Mr Hitler, Ghengis Khan, Stalinksi, it's all a matter of degree, comb your hair to the side, and you'll find, He lookes like you, and me, we all have that potential for evil in us, he was no Alien, but all too human. His genious for doing evil was highly developed, more so then in many other dictators, but remember he like many started off small, changing the laws one by one, using torture on those who wouldn't comply or he thought his enemies, and even then the so called free press hailed him a hero, until they could press no more, all was excused till it was too late, and then, you know the outcome, millions died, I celebrate his Birthday as a reminder not to succumb to my own evil thoughts, some candles and flags, and satanic chants, with some friends, is what we do every year, you know about satanic chants don't you Jersey, yes we smoke the stuff too. There was a reason he was born - not up to me to understand why or why not. Don't blame God for his mistakes ... Hitler had a choice. Ya know? As do we all.
