Just after doing my Naval bit,
I wanted a job where I could sit,
As well I loved to drive quite fast,
So in a Shelby I did a great job and never quit…
The job was way under the table,
Off the radar & not quite stable,
“Muling” for a New York city dealer,
Running drugs out to western PA,
Easily a hundred miles per hour,
In my GT 500KR four wheeler…
Dark blue with white sheet metal teeth in the grille,
Hard seats, roll cage, 4-speed rock crusher & 428 twin 4’s,
To drive this car anywhere was really such a thrill,
The cops couldn’t catch her, until,
One night I hit some ice and over a ravine we flew,
She caught fire and burned, never to be recognized,
I walked away clean, but that job was over, after the car away blew…

FIRST NEW CAR ever bought - '65 Dodge Dart - 4 dr. 6 cyl. AT - when it had about 98K miles on it, coming home from St. Patty's Day celebratin' - crossin' narrow bridge - oncoming headlights blinded me - right front tire hit concrete bridge abuttment - FLIPPED car onto roof - slid about 100 ft. -
upside down - smelled gas - saw only dashlights in the dark - dazed - pressed seatbelt release button & promptly FELL on my head - all 4 doors jammed - passing motorist stopped & told me to wind window down - climbed out - busted lip & broken glasses -
car totalled - next day went to retrieve belongings - entire windshield crushed out, roof bent down to steering wheel -
Guardian Angel - and/or GOD saved my ARSE!
Guess HE ain't ready for US just yet !!!

As Bear asked about what it is with men and cars I will attempt to answer...since the wheel was first invented we have had love affairs with cars and our first car is almost as great a memory as our first woman...whether it was good or bad we always remember iit as the best. My memorry comes alive after this read of my own sweet ride back then...a 69 Camaro...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
