Believe it or not, there is a simple answer - the price of Peace is - the DEATH OF APATHY!

It can only come - maybe someday? - when ALL American citizens STAND UP AND SPEAK OUT! A few thousand won't do it - a few hundred thousands won't either - WHEN ONE HUNDRED MILLION OR MORE - finally get off their complacent arses and ACT - WRITE LETTERS - SEND EMAILS - MAKE PHONE CALLS - SIGN PETITIONS - DEMONSTRATE - VOTE AGAINST ALL THE EMBEDDED CROOKED LYING POLITICIANS IN OFFICE - THEN - MAYBE!

A couple of days ago, I watched the documentary again - "The U.S. VS. John Lennon."
1968 -The Peaceniks - the Protesters - the Flower Children - the so-called 'radicals' - they spoke out - did sit-ins - got locked up - LOST - but DAMMIT THEY TRIED!

John's song - "GIVE PEACE A CHANCE" needs to be RESURRECTED - HERE - THERE - EVERYWHERE - WORLDWIDE!

I won't live long enough to see this happen - why? Because most Americans have NO BALLS LEFT !!

If greed, power and one-upmanship won't get us, then tsunami surely will... just waiting for the next wave to roll on in after the weekend's underground nuclear testing... When will we learn that life isn't about money, whether it be black, green or gold. As you so rightly say in this right-on poetic statement, the only place for the beauty of black, green and gold is in earth-colours... and only the sound of peace will bring mankind ease. Peace, a very misused word to go to war, or to demonstrate smashing windows, or burning up cars and throw Molotov cocktails to the pigs and deface Synagogues with swastika crosses for Palestine's love.
Sorry, that word give me a rash all over.

I don't think mankind loves war - they just don't know how to interact with their fellow human being. Kind of like kids - "it's mine," "no, it's mine," "No, it's M I N E" (and then one bops the other one over the head and steals it from him). Kids, playing at war - shame. However, there are those who willingly sign their names on the dotted line, raise their hands and don the uniform, so the rest of us don't have to - there is a terrible price for peace, and it is the bodies and blood of our service men and women. Powerfully penned, thought provoking excellence, Ed.
