They were there to protest,

Of the Vietnam war they did detest,

They were not there to hurt others,

But four were taken from their mothers…

It was a rally to of their opinions express,

But the soldiers came in full battle dress,

They were not their to cause distress,

But after an order to fire, they did so without finesse…

The pain & anguish does still exist,

Forty years after the protestors did of authority resist,

We cannot change what happened that fateful day,

But we can still mourn for the lives lost,

And for the families of those four we can still pray…
