Remembering High School…

Poem Artwork

I remember Ocean City High School,

I remember being pushed around,

I remember being into the ground pound,

I remember going to school in a different town,

All these memories do still now abound…

I hold no grudges,

Well, maybe one or two,

I remember high school as being a zoo,

Some were monkeys with humor,

Others were gorillas that started rumor,

One was a jerk, who even after 20 odd years,

Never changed his mood, died he did, young, boo hoo…

Nothing but children are those that don’t grow,

They live they’re lives & never change,

They grow up, but never mature,

Many things we have all had to endure…

ED ... SORRY TO HEAR YOURS WAS SO TOUGH ...

I WAS BLESSED WITH 2 THINGS - A BRAIN THAT WORKED PRETTY GOOD ... AND A COMPATIBILITY TRAIT ... GOT ALONG WITH EVERYONE - EVEN THE 'BULLIES' ...

WAS A LITTLE 98 POUND 'PIP-SQUEAK' BUT, I WAS FAST ...
COULD OUTRUN JUST ABOUT EVERY ADVERSARY ...

H-S SONG:

'ON THE SITE OF OLD FORT FEDERAL,
STANDS THE SCHOOL WE LOVE,
SOUTHERN HIGH, IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER,
YOU SHALL STAND ABOVE!'

'OTHER' SONG:

'I TOOK THE LEGS FROM SOME OLD TABLE,
TOOK THE ARMS FROM SOME OLD CHAIR,
TOOK THE NECK FROM SOME OLD BOTTLE,
AND FROM A HORSE I TOOK SOME HAIR ...

I TOOK SOME HAIR!

PUT THEM ALL TOGETHER,
WITH THE AID OF WIRE AND GLUE,
AND I GET MORE LOVIN' ...
FROM A GAL FROM SOUTHERN,
THAN I EVER GOT FROM YOU!'

"GET OUT N' WALK, BABY!"

:) :) :) TK CUZ ...

While cliques were everywhere and some feuds broke out, I don't recall high school as being an abusive time. With our 50th coming up, it seems no one is stepping up host the event–sad.

So that's why you are such a bleeding heart on AD. Guess it is time to write about it and get it off your chest.

Yea have to admit I wasn't to thrilled about high school, dropped out after only completing one year but lived to regret it and went back and did my grade twelve at night.

I was a nerd. Only had one fight, a punches thrown targets missed draw. I've only grown up a little, but grown around a lot. Patrick

High School was a mix of good and bad for me. I caught a lot of crap, though not as much as some. Some days were worse than others. Some days were better than others. I'm still not sure which ones were more abundant.

I was never hassled in school. I was the class cut-up, always looking for something to pull, or say. My memories aren't all that great either, Ed.
