Poem Artwork

Washing sea shells,

Then painting them,

Then onto the boardwalk we’d set up shop,

What a great place to of them sell…

So maybe they were made by kids,

It didn’t matter to the tourists,

They’d buy them all for a dollar,

And we then were quite rich…

Used them for ash trays,

Used them for door stoppers,

As well for ornaments on a lawn,

Kids nowadays look at them and yawn…

I just love Sea Shells!!!! When collecting the Conch Shells, as long as there is no little creatures living inside, holding the shell to your ear you can hear the sound of the ocean in them & that sound can be with you no matter where you live!

It's so true...but not in my grandson's case.....he's utterly fascinated by every single pebble and shell...and when we're in the forest he loves every single twig of every tree....I guess he's like his grammy! giggle....Wonderful childhood memories you have, Ed!

Simple pleasures, not over-talked by you, yet incredulous to the generations that never experienced them.

Kids today have it too easy, as they have for generations going back three thousand years. I used to go shelling just for the fun of it. I don't think x-box has that app. Patrick

I hear what you're say, Ed. Some of the simple pleasures I recall from my youth kids today would laugh and start looking for the switch to turn it on and be disappointed that the stick horse wouldn't giddy-up go unless you rode it. I've rode many a range with my stick horse. I know. Sounds funny today, but still . . .
