Middle of the night Blues...

The blooze have got me tight in their grip...

Poem Artwork

Tried to get my nightly snooze,

But awoke in the middle of it,

To my usual mid-nightly ‘blooze,’

Sometimes I gotta wish I never gave up booze…

No, I am not here to whine,

Only here to just a little sigh,

Is sighing of depression a sign,

Damn, but I should have kept that bottle of wine…

What have I got to be blue about,

I am warm & well fed, & sleep in a bed,

I live on the inside rather than the out,

I know my own name, that being Ed,

And I have yet to cross the threshold of the dead…

But still the blues have got me in their grip,

Even the use of my smoke in a roach clip,

Has not made me feel much better,

Possibly I should just go to bed & get some kip…

What is Kip? You have it bad...I always judge my problem's resolvability as to whether murder would solve them or not. If sex, drugs, and rock n' roll don't do it, then relish the fact that at least you are not someone else. starman

Ed, I'll tell you the same thing I told Chip. Well, almost anyway. His situation is a little different than yours. I gather you've been single for quite some time, but you both need a friend.

Go to BINGO. There are a lot of people our age at BINGO. (generally far more women than men) I guarantee you, if you are friendly and outgoing, you’ll soon find yourself in a conversation with someone who’s is familiar with everything you are going through. Bingo people are creatures of habit. They tend to go to the same BINGO halls and sit in the same seats, so break that mold. Go to several different games and don’t sit in the same seat,,,,, (unless you have taken a liking to your immediate surroundings…. If you know what I mean)

I'm telling ya buddy, a loyal companion makes all the difference in the world and like I told Chip, she's out there just a waitin to hear from ya. Dick

I am familiar with such feelings... ...although I am fortunate that I've not met with them for some time now; still, they are always lurking nearby. You probably know what has been keeping them at bay. Love and best wishes,

Regis

Now you’ve got dear old Ma bugging me again, wanting to know what the hell you mean by ‘getting some kip’

The Definitions of ‘Kip’

A) The untanned hide of a small beast
B) A unit of weight equal to 1,000 pounds
C) the standard monetary unit of Laos
D) a gymnastic exercise performed with the legs upright
E) to sleep fully clothed in the same bed with one's betrothed

I know you’re not exercising; I don’t think you weigh 1,000 pounds; I doubt you want any Laotian money; and I don’t think that you’re still stalking little animals in the Pine Barrens - so I told Ma that you meant E: you’re sleeping fully clothed with your beloved old Teddy Bear. Thankfully, she’s now satisfied. (You Owe Me Big Time!)

Yeah, the blues really rot, Ed. Hang in there, my friend.
You have a lot of company these days.

Ya got the right attitude, Edward, but a bottle of cheap California burgundy would go good about now, huh?
