The Monkees we always listened to,

In the eighth grade to them we grew,

Before them the Beatles we did enjoy,

But the Monkees had a TV show,

Now I see those shows; I find them dumb,

But then I think they did help us grow…

Daydream Believer my favorite I think,

But none of their songs did ever stink,

We listened to them loud on albums,

With mom & dad in the background,

Screaming to turn them down,

They were our version then of kink…

So now we lost the youngest member,

Davy was the heartthrob of the group,

He did die today and only at 66,

We wish him well on his journey,

To where all the greats now reside,

Of musicians in heaven there must be a mixed soup…J
