Really, what is love afterall...?

I pose this question to ask for advice...

Poem Artwork

Is it something that comes naturally,

Are we prone to it actually,

“Should” I know of it without being taught,

Is it something that through our genes,

We shouldn’t have to be of it bought…?

I ask these questions for some days I feel,

Just what the hell is love; we say it of everything, even a meal,

We love everything or nothing or of those things hate,

I wonder sometimes if love is just a word,

Or will we find out when we reach our final fate…?

I have felt love, or so I’ve thought,

But I can’t explain it even if I was of it caught,

Teaching us do our parents while we are up brought,

Can you explain it, for I cannot,

As for my whole life I have of love sought…

thought provoking, i cared deeply for my parents and husband, but for me the absolute moment when i truly felt overwhelming adoration was looking at the tiny face through the glass of the incubator holding my way too early, 3 pound son.

To quote the famous philosopher/songwriter,” What's love got to do with it?” When we are young, our hormones go into overdrive, and we try to procreate with everything that moves. When it doesn't go the way we want, we get upset and call it, “love.”

The psychologists have really gotten into it, and call it three kinds of love. I think the trick is, the more you give the more you get. If you're a quart shy on love, you probably haven't been giving enough love and don't deserve it in return.

Love is such a powerful word and can only be defined by the individual on what it means to them. It helps if you were shown a lot of love growing up of course. Can it be genetic? Good question, can it be inherent within us? Oh yes, we are very loving souls. It's just a matter of how we define it for ourselves. You will not be the first or the last to seek it, or explain it.

Very nice write Ed

"If I had to choose between breathing and loving you,
I'd have to save my last breath to say I love you!"

I am truly touched, Bro. Forget about that 10 bucks you owe me!

Ed, all i know is you will know true love if you actually find someone who is your true love.

love is what we are, bliss is our natural state...what clouds and eludes us from this joy is our misperception of what we are...seeking externally in the mirror, when all along it exists within the self....

Ed,
the question of the ages and yes it is sad we overuse the word where other words would be more apt.

I don't think love is something that can be taught, I think it is overused when we apply it to inanimate objects such as food or cars etc, and I do think it is one of the unexplained but greatest gifts God gives on this earth...don't question it just accept it.

I see you found your muse. Very nice. FYI, love is not strangling your 80 year old demented mother after 12 days of captivity. cuz p
