Boy, parents sure do get into a lather over such little things...

Poem Artwork

I was four,

Living in Sea Isle,

This was in my personal file,

Under memories forgotten,

Till tonight…

Apparently I walked off,

Possibly in a scoff,

Don’t recall the circumstances,

I was always a pretty independent little cuss,

I thought the whole thing not that much of a muss…

I walked the five miles to the next town,

At that time there was but one cop,

My parents and neighbors were out too,

They found I did for a soda stop,

As I walked the beach to the north end…

I do remember vivdly,

The police car driving by on the road,

Passing me as I hid on the sand dune,

I went there and back pretty fast,

And got home, to me, really soon…

I don’t remember getting in trouble,

I mean it wasn’t dark, home in time for dinner,

What the heck was all the fuss,

I just went for a little walk & had fun,

Found neat stuff on the beach & brought home some…J

I was in around fifth grade and my mom and I had an argument and I ran away to my aunts house about 4 blocks away. Well the first place my mom looked for me was at my aunts house and she took me home.

I got you beat. I was three years old and was running away from home with my best friend on our tricylcles. We were going to live at the beach. I took a box of vanilla wafers to live on. The cops took us home!!

Love ya!
