Poem Artwork

With the sound of the waves as they crash ashore,

With the scent of salt blowing off the sea,

With the squeaky, crackly sound from a seagull,

The memories of my home coming a’flooding back to me…

The sun rising over open ocean,

Sailing on a boat, feeling the motion,

The feel of the hot sun, the smell of lotion,

That all for me brings back loving memory…

The sound of children in the amusement park,

The bells, whistles & sirens do liken to me of a lark,

Songs of surfing, swimming & playing,

The late afternoon wind out of the southeast & skies almost daily graying…

River of Memories: An Appalachian Boyhood by David Thompson
