Ah for those wild, wild days to return...

No longer do I use a surfboard, sometimes though a boogie board, sometimes just bodysurfing...

(picture not me, just a general shot)

Poem Artwork

My surfing days past,
During a hurricane in the mid 80’s my last,
Had a few great rides, then my board broke in half,
Thank God for the local ambulance staff…

No longer do I go out to even try,
Hell, this past summer I didn’t even go body-surfing,
You ask if I miss it and I have to say I most certainly do,
Sitting on the beach and watching the young guys surf,
Surely now does kinda make me feel quite blue…

But my day has now gone by,
And there is no reason to really sit and cry,
I surfed for a lot of years with NO tears,
Till that last day, when the board broke and my back got hurt,
Pounding down on the ocean floor & crawling to the shore,
Old mom Ocean did with that wave to me of her authority assert…

ED... WELL DONE !

29 years ago I was 43... yew were younger too...
We all could do many things better when we were younger.
Now, as old Farts we can at least relish the the adventures
we once had. Many others have not been as fortunate.
PEACE...

Awesome pic. You're not dead yet, bubba. You still have a vibrant desire to write and share, and I heard from your neighbors that you like to burn farts late at night. Hahahahahahahahaha.... I understand, also, that you have great taste in authors. (-: Keep being you. You're one of a kind and good at it too. Peace

Yep. Memories are nice, but when you get too old to even remember that is sad. You're still doing your thing even if it is sitting on the beach watching the next generation . . .

These things are great to look back on though - Imagine if all you had ever done was watch!

sounds like it's time to kick back and listen to some Jimmy Buffett.

I understand how you feel. I miss the days of downhill skiing so much but had back surgery after a slip/fall on a greasy kitchen floor at a restaurant I used to work at. At least we have the memories and can appreciate watching others do what we used to do.

Love ya!

Jane
