It all comes down to whether or not "YOU" or "I" allow & wish to accept help...

Poem Artwork

I start to read these books,
With high hopes of the new me,
Blazing forth into a new outlook,
But lose interest quite fast,
And never with regards chapters, get to the last…

I find myself wanting more,
And wanting it right away,
The books do not of course,
Know me or my life’s score,
So after reading only half,
I make up my mind that the book is quite poor…

It will then sit on my bookshelf,
Gathering dust till the next time,
I get the urge to re-read what in the past I read,
Re-thinking again what the book has said,
Finding flaws in its basic concept,
Finding my own flaws that it would point out,
Try to change, then realize that in reality,
I am just myself; books can show me “A” way,
But it is, afterall, in the end,
What I do think with regards life,
That is how I go or say…

I have never read a self-help book. But I have helped myself many times during this life without the "answers" of others. What is really strange is any book that declares an easy way to make money, sells like hotcakes. The only money made by these books is made by the writer bilking the greedy, a perfect combination.

Everyday you wake up,
it's a new day and a new you.
Leave those books on the shelf,
There's better things to do.

I myself can't stand self help books. I have to be me and let life teach me. On the job learning is the best in my opinion.

Love ya!

Self Help books, are for the most part for the sad people who want a brand new them, and the believe they can get it out of a damn book. You, Ed, are not in that "sad" category, you are who you are and if you want more a book isn't going to give it to ya . . .
