Salt water does inside me flow,
It made it quite hard to grow,
But grow we did, from a little skinny blond haired cutie,
To the fat, old, bearded, hippie with a pony tail,
That you know as me, the salt water inside this old body turning stale…
Back in the day, the mornings we swam,
The afternoons we surfed & boated,
Hard to believe some of those old boats we had even floated,
The biggest & best I remember was dad’s little 48 foot Bertram…
Growing up with Mother Ocean having our backs,
A childhood we had that did never anything lack,
We knew love, friendship & true comradery,
No one knew back then what was poverty,
Our lives still were far from monotony…
In our little world we were sated,
Never realizing, even if we were, hated,
Our lives may have been quite antiquated,
While our teachers kept us all of the world fascinated,
And our parents kept us of the outside world quite isolated…
You wax silver in this one. Sated, hated, antiquated, fascinated, isolated... you've captured the journey into senescence well. I'd only add one more word: cremated. (-: Peace peckerwood. And Happy Holidays.
Days now are just as carefree Ed, if you let them be.
