The picture of Gene holding the joint and me sitting behind with the Pat's shirt on...probably 15 or so years ago...

Poem Artwork

Hard to believe,
I lost my dear friend then,
Gene left this world on the thirtieth of June,
He was just a bit of a loon,
But then again we both were way back when…

He now is with his mom, sisters & brothers,
Even though I was not his family I loved him as such,
He left this world way too soon in my thinking,
He was my best friend, together we did much…

He will always be a part of me,
Keeping a relationship like we had was the key,
I still talk to him when his picture I do see,
Maybe to some that might be a bit crazy,
But my memory of him will never be hazy.

Can't say that I had a best friend, probably because my twin brother took the place of a best friend during my period of growing up. But all of my better friends are still alive except one old girlfriend that died a year ago.

You don't say what Gene died of, but I don't think it was fast living like you. And you, of all people certainly need someone like that around, to keep you vitalized.

I lost my best friend 15 years ago, and there's not a day that goes by that I don't think of him. His death left an empty space in me that's never been filled. I consider myself lucky to have had such a good friend. As you said, he will always be a part of me, so I can really relate to your write.

This is a beautiful poem concerning the loss of a dear friend. He is smiling.
