A memory of a past life...

Poem Artwork

 Me at my post,

High in the mizzen mast,

The crew drunk from their rum ration,

Lying about the deck in haphazard form…

Ahoy to the captain I did bellow,

A ship on the horizon could be seen,

The captain did scream back, oh he could be mean,

Keep ye eyes a’watchin’ its mast,

If she should close, sound then the alarm,

Beyond then it could do us no harm…

We gained the wind in early morn,

Our sails billowed the first time in days,

We then closed on the other ship,

But the captain did change course when it he could see…

Its sails were in tatters,

Not a soul did move about her decks,

Her flag a red triangle on a white field,

A plague ship, she bore on alone…

Our captain ordered our gun crews to sink her post-haste,

Down with express she went to Davey Jones locker,

The captain did over her read from the good book,

Her name stricken from the ships registry,

No longer would the crew of her speak,

We did our duty to of her seek,

Towards home from these cursed waters we did speed,

The Triangle did another ship take in its greed.

I didn't know plague ships carried a red triangle in their flags. I wonder what it signified. I feel sad for the ship and its sick.

A great mystery that continues to live in the Bermuda Triangle. There she blows.

After sinking the cursed ship, was good to speed toward home, wonderful and graphic account of the Triangle of Death where pint after pint of grog made them forget . . . Until the next time.

Fun story poem, Ed. Blew it to hell, eh? They have so many theories about the Bermuda Triangle. I've held one in particular most of my life; inter-dimensional rifts. Ever wonder where all the birds go in Hurricanes? Peace... r
