Snow ball wars were so much fun!

Poem Artwork

In my home town,

Never did we frown,

We always found something to do,

We were little animals in a self-imposed zoo…

Surely we had the beach in summer,

And in winter we had lots of snow,

The snow accumulated at the edge of the ocean,

And there we would play tempting the fates,

But sometimes the fates were not in our favor,

For slipping in the snow & falling into the cold ocean was a definite bummer…

We also had snow forts on the street,

The little islands faced each other and were really neat,

We would have snowball wars & bomb each other,

Nothing ever too dangerous as we were all friends,

Some of us were then and are still almost brothers.

I loved the snow when I was young. It had a magical quality for us. It feels good to remember those times.

Yes, I recall the snowball forts we built as kids in the past.
I also remember fighting the bigger kids in huge snowball wars.
The forts would come crashing down as they tried to kick some ass!
Snowball forts in our neighborhood in Brooklyn NY did not last!

Still... It was FUN! LOL

Fun times well remembered. Our snow forts were much cruder than that engineered job in the picture.

The only thing that ruined the fun was not a snowball, but an ice ball. It was really shocking to get hit in the head with one of those!

I really enjoyed your poem Ed, love the idea of a self imposed zoo. It sounds like you had so much imagination as a child, and a positive outlook on life, I am sure it served you well. I grew up in Montreal, it was fun too. Have a great day

Fond childhood memories always seem to be the best. Personall, I still like to have snowball fights.

You resurrect childhood memories in this poem, Ed. How we used to love to built those elaborate snow forts, then crash them down.
