That picture would be me & my dad...

Poem Artwork

I started out life quite young,

Into the sea of life I was flung,

Climbing the ladder of life rung by rung,

Crawled through many piles of dung…

I started life on the beach,

Found myself drawn to the sea,

I dug around in the sand,

And crawled with help into my sea,

To my mother out of reach,

My father did of my swimming teach…

Maybe this my late life insanity,

Came from eating sand in abundance,

Washing it down with salt water,

Never said I was anything but a dunce…

Slowly I did grow,

Every summer day,

Swimming, surfing, boating,

The life of a beach bum,

Then I got older and found rum,

But that is totally another story,

Sometimes unfortunately it turned out,

To be quite altogether gory.

Who is that little towheaded sand crawler in the picture? You never were that good looking (cute?). You gave up on the best part of the story in your poem at the end. Don't you know that readers like to read gory over glory 10 to 1!

Consider yourself lucky that you are born near the sea. You have that all your life. A good place to grow up in.

You are born and raised by the sea. It is in you. Salt water runs through your veins. I like you very much, but Ed, lighten up on how much I know about women. I know what I know and that isn't much.
