Old hippies never die...

Poem Artwork

           *Old Hippies*

Old hippies, it is said, never die,

                 ‘they just FLASHBACK!

          Whatever happened to those

       flashbacks,

          we were forewarned about so

       many years ago?

I have so looked forward to the

       smallest one

coming on when I least expect

       it and making

          life a bit more interesting…

          Are pre-migraine auras as

       close to flashbacks

          that I am to experience?

Getting high all these years &

       hence still does not

bring back the feeling I got

       when enjoying the same

          as a younger hippie…

Guess I will just have to live

       with the fact that I

          SMELL, as in…

          Old Hippies never die,

                   ‘they just SMELL THAT WAY!

Ed,
I've often explained to my children I am a flower child with Yuppie tendencies because I like to grow my own herbs, do aromatherapy, make cloud pictures, wander in the woods, go barefoot, burn incense, prepare meals using real food, not cardboard fakes, and really groove on granola, whole grain breads and nuts. However, I do enjoy some indoor percs, like my comp, hot water, the john and electricity. Too old to do without.

Loved the picture. My husband and I are working our way up from a pop-up to a regular camper. Both 56 and counting to retirement.

Loved the poem by the way. Great return trip.

Ed--funny, I never noticed the "smell"?! I did notice the stickers, though. You have a way with words, and the pics add to them. Keep up the good works . . . BobbieH

Histories of the world are generally written to either celebrate technology and science, or to herald doom. My book examines the path of the spirit in the onward rush.
