Sorry for the quality, or lack thereof of some of these old pics I have been adding of late. Mom usually blurred the image when she took the picture, and cameras were not as great back then, I assume? ed

“NO FEAR”

When I was quite young,

And first started swimming,

My mother, who was afraid of the ocean,

Would not allow me to see her fear,

For she wanted me to enjoy,

The ocean & learn to respect it.

I was four or five and still in the ocean I went,

Up to my chest, waves knocking me back,

Dad kept his eye on me,

But mom would only go in just so far.

From the picture above,

As you can see,

Of me in the sea,

I had no fear,

And that is abundantly clear,

Even to someone not a seer,

Growing up at the shore,

Was a fantastical existence,

And definitely not a bore,

Especially at the age of four…

Good write, Ed; but at least YOUR mom didn't cut people's heads off when she took pictures...my mom was NOTORIOUS for that! (God bless her soul!) LOL Still, a good write; very well done, Ed!~ (((HUGS))) and much love, your Tx. friend, Karen Lynn. :D Cold up that way?? Bet Rufuz doesn't stay out long when he has to go! LOL Hope it warms up there soon!

Great write, Ed! I grew up near the ocean and that is where I learned to swim. My Mom swam like a dolphin and took me out a few feet from shore and said "swim to shore". I dog-paddled my butt off...lol Thanks for the memory ~Z~

I understand your mothers concern. I had a few of the dark and refused for my child to see it. She grew up with no fears :-) My mother had fear of water. My father threw us in :-) I love the water too :-) The old photos are hard to show, must of been the disadvantage of them back then.
