A tribute to firemen who often have to undertake many risky jobs. So many of them dying during the call of duty.

Fireman Jaywant kadam from Mumbai, Maharashtra India Children holidaying flying kites in a line Some playing cricket lazily pass the time A young fireman in service came hurrying by Went up a roof to work coming by It was a routine affair, a regular call This time it was to rescue a crow It got snapped in the strings of a kite The bird was released It felt soon at ease Went flying, flapping its wings all the way down ‘Twas the man who succumbed and fell too For he slipped off the roof twenty feet down On that fateful day he broke his head The kids continued their games until dusk The crow crowed and flew away unawares A family ‘twas that lost their sole bread winner A good soul he was, a life went fleeting by. ‘Providence of God watch over us’ we pray Life goes about each day May the fireman’s soul rest in peace

fine tribute to fireman versatility ...

A unique and tragic story. While this was an accident, many farm and lose their lives to arson and sabotage. The worst-case being what happened to the brave firemen at 9/11.

My great uncle was a fireman all his life and a fire chief. It was a time when homes were heated by wood and coal and easily set fire. He got black lung from breathing smoke, but somehow lived a long and healthy retirement until he was 98.

A sad situation, for sure. You can only say one thing is that the fireman died doing what he loved to do.
