... A memorial service becomes a lifefest of love...
When A Living Love Ends
Recently I learned how to say a proper farewell with
cheering dignity to a beloved friend, who had died.
Sitting in a pew of a magnificent Christian church,
I heard music and words of comfort to all present.
'That Old Time Religion' lost out to family youth
and beauty in excellent organ renditions of old
hymns known for life, plus piano and violin duets.
Eulogies by a son for a father loved for good reasons,
reading the memories of Papa's gifted grandchildren.
Firmly reinforced by a Minister who recalled in humor.
a few eccentricities of one who gave fully to others.
With thankful kin and friends this kind man was
remembered exactly as he had lived his life while
building, with his wife, a family of worthy citizens.
At his burial service we learn that he and she had
recently acquired burial sites only a few miles from
where each was born and started life before meeting.
Only a few more miles away, they met and married.
It is good to know that back then these two began to
complete the circle of an extremely long life of love.
I walked back into my life highly pleased with it all.
