Years ago the idea was to protect the car
Keep it clean shiny protect the paint and
Make it warmer in the winter for starting
The American garage today is a depository
Of anything but an automobile unless
Your home has a double or triple garage
Most of us park the car out in the weather
To store the lawn mower bikes and stuff
Also in garages are freezers and refrigerators
The work bench plus tools galore
Add stacks of cardboard boxes
Shelves of electrical thingies and wires
Storage cabinets of all sizes and all full
As are shelves with colossal collections
Only in America do we build to fill
So garages house everything but cars
Bill, I should send this picture to my brother-in-law, so he can see what a clean [Sic] garage looks like. Of course, I won't be invited to Thanksgiving dinner, again, but, oh well! Enjoyed.
When we still lived in Connecticut, we had one of the neatest garages you've ever seen! I know...we were probably in the minority...because I've seen what you've written of here!
Spot on, Bill - growing up, our garage housed the car, the lawnmower, and the kid's bikes; nothing else. Nowadays, phoooo - everything but the kitchen sink! LOL An excellent write, well done!
