Destiny
By
Charlene Iverson
As I touched the sky last night,
It sang to me
A harmonious melody about
The trees and the sky
And life and death.
And I knew that there are no tomorrows,
Only yesterdays.
For time stands still
In our tiny universe.
Only our minds move forward
Like the distant drum beat
Of the far away natives
Or the rolling mountains
Of our inherent land.
We cage ourselves in a maze
Of webbed dreams that neither move
Forward nor backward.
Only in an orb of broken thoughts
And fantasies of where we've been
And where we ought to be.
I liked this very much.
