about growing up

I was afraid to grow up.
Afraid of life.

I worried myself to death.

It was hard to breathe.

Like a fish out of water.

Like having asthma.

High school was hell-crazy wild.

My only plan.

Just get up and go.

Cant be like mom.

She always had a plan.

Living her life without any man.
Cant think that far.

Felt out of place.

Like dust floating in space.

Scared out of my mind.

Of what I might or might not find.
Cant hack relationships.

More drama.

Why waste the time.

Still confused, but still craving knowledge.

I need to do what I want-for myself.

Even if its just me who cares.

Even if no ones there.
It was a long hard road.

To get my act together.

All bad choices, solely I sowed.

Working for nickels and dimes.

Like a newborn.

Taking one step at a time.

Enjoyed the staccato way of bringing this to life.

Much wisdom would be learned through such times.

I can relate to this. Yes, relationships often get in the way of the best friendships. Live for yourself! If something happens, it happens; if not, you're no less a person than anyone else. No person is greater than another.

What a horrible way to spend the best years of your life. I certainly hope you can reclaim the rest of it more happiness.

Oh, the angst of youth.

I may be old,
but one things for sure.
I grew up,
but I never did mature.

I couldn't wait to grow up. After two lost decades I wished I never had. I'm better now. Heh.Heh

River of Memories: An Appalachian Boyhood by David Thompson

For a time, I perched myself on a flat rock, comparing my life with the Guyandotte River. Just as its tributaries replenish it daily, changing it in some small—sometimes great—degree, so have the day-to-day occurrences of life changed me. Like the ri
