A piece about being deeply in love but scared of the outcome that love will cause, by Makala Thomas
IS THERE A CURE?
My heart is blazing
With love so intense
It kills me to be
Away from him for
Too long
Love so critical it borders
Along the lines of both
Desperation
And infatuation,
Love so strong
I’m almost blind.
Love so beautiful
A rainbow couldn’t compare,
Love so gripping
I anticipate his
Every move.
Love that’s driving me crazy.
Is there a cure for
Being in love…
Or must I wait until
My heart is broken?
He crosses my mind
As soon as I emerge
From my slumber.
When he looks at me I get
Butterflies in my stomach.
When he touches me
He sets my soul on fire,
And I don’t want to
Put it out.
When he kisses me
I grow weak in the knees,
And I’m defenceless to
His soft lips mating with mine.
What am I going to do?
Is there a cure for
Being in love…
Or must I wait until
My heart is broken?
Many have written that men and women fall in love differently. I think women commit far more to love than men, and are hurt more when it doesn't work out. That's what I get from your poem. A love so dependent that losing it is tragic.
