conversation with an old friend about life

Poem Artwork

Reflection

I ran into an old friend
when I got up today
He thought that I looked different
in some funny sort of way

He wondered where was all my hair
I used to have a lot
My fingers ran through what was left
I said this is all I've got

He studied all the wrinkles
on the face he used to know
It's been a while but holy cow
you sure are looking old

Hey I never see your wife around
she always looked so fine
I really couldn't tell you
she's kind'a hard to find

Well have you seen our old friend Joe
boy those were the times
Well if you see him tell him thanks
and he can keep my wife

So how's all the kids doing
guess they're all grown now
I wish that I could tell you
but I never see 'em now

At least I guess you made it
with all the money that you've made
Well you'll have to ask my banker
he took it all away

Now stop with all the questions
or you'll drive yourself insane
Quit staring in that mirror
Just turn and walk away

Now that's a reflection if I ever read one! And I think you poured a lot of yourself into it. Great job.

Why was I thinking the words and music to, "Have you seen my old friend, Abraham?"
