"The Legend of Eelinor" is a prequel to "The Heptagon". The epic poem tells the tale of the first attack of the Beron Nation against the city of Eelin.
“The Legend of Eelinor”
“They Approach From the Sky”
The huge army of foul beasts
Hover over the Eenalain Mountains
On the wings of creatures of legend.
Below them sleeps Eelin
A much acclaimed city where men dwell.
They come from the east
Borne upon great wings
Wings of the legendary rulers of the sky
The mighty Teracytes.
The inhabitants of the city sleep
Quietly, content in their slumber.
All but one, who now grows anxious.
All those around him stir uneasily.
For when Nador of the Moonbeams feels restless
Something had to be amiss.
He steps toward the wall and peers forward.
Taller than most and wiser in appearance.
A white light streams forth from his glowing eyes
Nador stares out into the darkness
His eyes lit up like the ancient moonbeams
That bombarded the land of Eelinian Centuries before.
Nothing can be seen.
The leader has a puzzled look.
Something was still not right.
He steps back questioningly
His keen senses still alert.
Still peering into the night
The one called Nador
Summons several of the guards
To his side.
“Warn the rest of the guards,”
Nador commands.
“Alert the battlements.
Do so quickly and silently.”
The guards rush off to do their commander's bidding.
All but one.
“My senses tingle, Ericz,
With the presence of great danger.”
The guard named Ericz nods.
“In the wake of the ominous doings far to the East
Caution is still necessary Alertness vital!”
Nador turns to his comrade.
“Go go fair Ericz
Go and see if preparations have been made
For what may as yet turn out
To be a misinformed feeling.”
Ericz nods and rushes off.
Nador stands silent in his own thoughts
For several long moments.
Then turns toward his companion
Who is rushing toward him.
“The battlements have been alerted,”
Ericz says to his leader.
Nador nods, then looks out into the night.
“Whatever the danger I sense
Though I hope it is but a folly
Whatever the presence I feel
Is near, and we must...”
Nador's words are broken
By a terrifying cry from the skies above
Which rips through the night air.
A blazing stream of light flashes forth
From Nador of the Moonbeams eyes.
He swings his worried gaze
Toward the darkened sky.
“Sound the alert!”
Nador cries out.
“They approach from the sky!
Archers prepare thy bows!
Catapults make ready for the assault!”
“Prepare to defend the fair city of Eelin
The city named after the great hero Eelinor
Who rests in catacombs far away
In a restful slumber!”
The night is thus shattered
By the sound of a shrill horn.
Men ready themselves for battle.
Above the valley
More horrible cries
Burst through the formerly peaceful night.
Nador turns to his ever present companion.
“Run quickly to the castle.
Alert King Alor
And the beautiful princess, Ilon
Of the oncoming peril.
“Fetch the Stone of Aqua Green
The talisman which was chipped
From the all powerful Heptagon
By none other than Eelinor himself.
Though the full extent of its powers
May not as yet be known
I fear we will need the Stone of Aqua Green
Before this day is done.
Bring the Stone here to me.
Go quickly!”
“Preparations For War”
The guards at the top of the city wall
Hear the horrible cries
But the enemy as yet cannot be seen.
The winged creatures bearing the foul beasts
Circle outside the city, out of sight.
Suddenly the shrill cries cease
And a deathly silence
Hovers over the city.
Nador's shining eyes catch a glimpse
Of the enemy which now circles
Outside the city.
“My worst fears have now been confirmed,”
Nador speaks to the military leaders
Who gather around him.
“I have glimpsed the sight of a Beron Warrior
Perched upon the back
Of one of the ancient, most powerful
Rulers of the sky the Teracytes.
It appears these mighty creatures
Have ferried the foul Berons
To our very gates.
The foul leader of the Beron Nation,
Bostack the Hideous,
Must have gone through quite an ordeal
To gain the aid of such creatures.”
“We can only hope and pray
The king of the Teracytes
Will not send his subjects
Into battle against us.”
“From all accounts
The Teracytes do not interfere
In the affairs of others.
Woe upon this land
If the Teracytes have now turned
To the ways of fighting and destruction
Like our most bitter enemies
The Berons who dwell far to the east.”
Ericz appears at Nador's side.
“King Alor now sits upon his throne
With the fair princess Ilon at his side.
Ericz hands Nador a glowing Aqua Green colored crystal
“I have brought forth the Stone of Aqua Green
As you commanded.”
Nador gracefully takes the stone from his companion.
“This may as yet prove to be the savior of Eelin.”
Turning toward the military leaders
Nador speaks:
“The foes who fly beyond our walls
Are truly Berons from the east
Borne on the mighty wings of the Teracytes.
If the king of the sky
Has formed an alliance with our enemy
Then the end of our fair city
May well be at hand.”
“If they have joined forces with the Berons, my Lord,”
Ericz speaks.
“Then they would surely have attacked sooner
Using the keen night vision of the flying Teracytes
To invade the inner city.”
“You are quite correct,”
Nador responds.
His shining eyes regard his trusted companion
“You are correct.”
“Teorn”
Perched upon the highest peak
In the Mountain range named Eelinian
Teorn, the King of the Teracytes
Peers down into the valley below.
Next to him stands a creature
Darker than the night.
“I and my subjects have brought you here,
Bostack of the Berons,”
The mighty Teracyte King speaks
“In accordance with your request.”
“Once we have ferried your subjects
Into the valley below
To an area away from the city walls
Our pact will be complete
Then we shall return
To our homes in the sky.”
“The laws of the Teracytes
Which have stood
For several millennium
Cannot be disobeyed
My son took the life of your son
The granting of this request
Is the result.”
“You sacrificed the life
Of your only son
In order for this request
To be granted
This I know.
“The young life of your son
Was taken by my son through your own foul plot
Neither is to blame.”
“Because this was a blood relative to you,
This is the only reason why I must heed your request
To bring your army to this city of humans
Who have done no harm.
Your son has now passed on
And my son is condemned
All for this.”
Red eyes embedded in a darkened face
Light up with hideous delight
A smile filled with fanged teeth
Adds gloom to the night.
“It took some doing,”
Bostack the Hideous sneers.
“To learn of your sacred laws.
As for my son
These are the sacrifices of war.”
“We have brought you here,”
The King of the Teracytes replies
“And now we shall depart
For the struggles of land dwellers
Are not our concern.”
“I know, however,
You have used devious means
To persuade some of my lesser subjects
To fight by your side.
It is my will and decree
That they never enter my kingdom.
They are cast out and unwelcome.”
“As for you, Bostack of the Berons,
If you or any of your kind dare to intrude
Upon any of my subjects again
I shall unleash a wave of destruction
That will leave your Nation in ruins.
Remember this!”
With a great cry
Teorn of the Teracytes
The mightiest of the mighty
Rose to the sky.
“Let us be gone, my subjects!”
The King of the Teracytes cries out
“Let us swiftly fly away
Away from the petty problems
Of those who dwell on land!”
With thunderous squawks
Which echo across the Eenalain Peaks
The winged creatures rise above the peaks
With a whooshing sound
Like waves crashing against the shore
Then swoop away to the northeast.
Back to their homes
In the northern sky.
“Battle at the Break of Day”
Nador hears the thunderous squawks
And the whooshing of the wings
Fade away from the Eenalain Mountains.
He silently rejoices.
The cries in the night sky
Outside the city walls
Signals that some of the Teracytes
Still remain.
Nador calls the military leaders
To his side.
“Let this standstill end
We shall not wait until the dawn shows itself
We shall strike first!”
“Signal the catapults!
Inform the Archers to prepare thy bows!
Upon my signal
We shall commence firing out into the night
Toward the enemy which circles outside our walls!
Thus shall the battle begin!”
The leaders quickly depart
To do their commander's bidding.
The light of a new day
Lifts across the mountains.
The outcast Teracytes
Begin to fly the Beron warriors over the walls
And drop them off in the inner city
Where they battle the Eelinian forces
Who rushed to ward off this threat
Eelin's defenses
Bring down several of the flying renegades
But vanquishing a Teracyte
Is no easy task.
The Teracytes continue to ferry the enemy
Into the inner city.
They drop several warriors off at a time
Then return to the valley for more.
At the barking command
From the foul mouth of the hideous Bostack
The Berons begin pouring toward the walls
Of the city of Eelin.
Ladders spring forth,
Battering rams are made ready
The Beron warriors begin to scale the walls
While the battering rams
Are hauled toward the gate.
The Eelinite Archers
Fire many an arrow
Upon the oncoming enemy.
Many ladders are pushed from the walls
And molten Oil is poured down
Upon many a screaming foe
Still, they come.
The Battle in the inner city rages on.
More of the enemies leap from the backs
Of their flying comrades.
Some are shot down from their perches
But still many more
Reach their destination.
On top of the highest tower
A robed man raises his arms and cries
“Peace peace
End this useless fighting!”
An arrow cast from Bostack himself
Who is now perched upon the back
Of the largest of the renegade Teracytes
Flies through the morning air
Felling the High Priest of Eelin.
On top of the wall
Nador of the Moonbeams
Raises the Stone of Aqua Green
High into the air.
A bright light is unleashed
From the Stone
Blinding the oncoming enemy
Who scale the wall.
Many of the Beron Warriors
Lose their balance
And fall from their ladders
In the wake of the blinding light.
An arrow shot
From the bow of one of the Beron Warriors
Perched upon the back of a renegade Teracyte
Knocks the Stone from Nador's hands.
The Stone falls to the ground below.
Nador's faithful companion
Rushes to retrieve the Stone
While his master battles several Beron Warriors
Who have reached the top of the wall.
Ericz grabs hold of the Stone of Aqua Green
And rushes toward the scaffold
To return the Stone to his master.
“Bring the Stone to the Princess!”
Nador cries out.
“It will protect her!”
Ericz and a dozen Eelinian Warriors
Battle their way
Toward the middle of the city
Where the castle stands.
“Ilon”
The raging sound of battle
And the screams of the dying
Are still some distance
From the princess Ilon's ears.
Below her window
Castle Guards stand silent
Knowing they are the last line of defense.
The sun creeps in
Through the huge windows
Of her royal chamber
Casting early morning shadows
Which foretell doom.
Ilon sits alone
Looking out at the garden
In the courtyard below
Lost in her own thoughts.
It is a myth a legend
Which dwells within her thoughts.
When the time comes
She will be hastily
Taken to the secret tunnels
Located behind the Castle.
There she will be led to safety
Beyond the walls of the city.
That time seems to approach nearer
With every grain of sand
Which falls from her hourglass.
Princess Ilon's thoughts
Are suddenly broken
By the clattering of feet
And the sound of several armored men
Rushing toward her door.
A knock echoes through her chamber
“Enter,” she commands.
The door opens
To several armored warriors.
They all bow toward the princess
Then one of them speaks:
“Nador wishes for you to have this,”
The warrior named Ericz speaks,
Taking the Stone of Aqua Green
From the pouch at his side
“It will protect you.”
“Thank you,”
The princess replies.
She takes the Stone.
Ericz and the other warriors bow
Then leave her royal chamber.
Ilon turns the Stone around in her hand.
“Nador of the Moonbeams knows,”
She whispers, staring at the Stone.
“Now I must go
And see if I have the strength
To summon forth a legend.”
“Beneath the Castle”
The stairs are cold and damp
An icy mist fills the stagnant air.
The passage is dark
The sparse light of the torch
Held in her trembling hands
Does not cast much illumination.
It had been easy
To sneak from her bed chamber
Through the secret passageway
She had discovered years before
And quietly make her way
To the doorway which led
To the catacombs beneath the city.
Princess Ilon knows not what to do, however,
When she reaches her destination.
Nevertheless, she must try.
For if anyone is the key to the prophecy
At this terrible time
It must be her...
“...of their own accord, one of power and beauty
One with a will beyond normal measures only to
This ones sweet voice will the great warrior reply And come forth from his dark abyss.”
Ilon had read these words repeatedly
Dreaming that the one mentioned
Was her.
Now this dream had to be turned into reality
For her beloved city and its people
Were at stake.
Her courage wavers slightly
As she reaches
The bottom of the stairway
And enters the catacombs
Which lie beneath the city.
The princess follows the main corridor
Which slopes downward
Until she reaches
The farthest point beneath the castle.
The sparse light of the torch reveals
A stone wall which stands before her.
A circular metal torch holder
Is embedded in the opposite wall
Next to a metal pedestal.
Ilon places the torch
In the circular rings
Then takes the Stone of Aqua Green
And places it upon the pedestal.
The princess turns to the stonewall
Where the words of the prophet Eenol
Are engraved -
Words she has read repeatedly
Since her youth.
She can only hope
That she has guessed right
About the procedures hinted at
In the prophetic Scroll of Eenol.
Ilon sits in front of the wall
And begins to play the harp
Which she had brought along with her
Her sweet voice sings the words of the legend
The first song she had ever learned
When she was but a child.
The clear, melodic notes from the harp
Echo through the corridors.
Ilon's voice rises and falls along with the music
Filling the dingy catacombs
With an acoustic beauty
Which has never before been heard
In this part of the city.
Ilon finishes her song
Then lowers the harp and waits
Nothing happens
The princess sings the words of the prophecy
Once again
Still nothing happens.
Ilon stands before the wall
“What must I do?”
She calls out in frustration
“Why is there no sign
To tell me what to do?”
A glint of light catches her eye
She turns to see the light of the torch
Reflecting off of the Stone of Aqua Green
Casting a faint glitter
Upon the words of the prophecy.
Ilon turns back to the words
Written upon the wall
She reads part of the prophecy aloud...
“...the Mighty Warrior will be guided
By a light shining forth
From the Stone of Aqua Green
Held up high.”
She had thought that the Stone
Should be placed on the pedestal
While she sang the words of the prophecy
In this assumption
She may have been mistaken.
Ilon grabs the glittering stone
From the pedestal
Then turns back toward the wall
Where the words of the prophecy are engraved.
The Princess holds the Stone of Aqua Green
High in the air.
The glowing light of the Stone
Casts a bluish green radiance
The words of the legend glitter
Upon the wall before her.
The princess throws back her head
And cries out in desperation...
“Why do thou not come forth,
Mighty Eelinor?”
The echoes of her last spoken word
Resound through the catacombs.
“Eelinor Eelinor Eelinor!”
The words continue to echo
Off the stone walls
Circling through the catacombs
As if they would never cease
“To this one's call,”
The princess whispers
“To this one's call!”
She cries out.
Ilon holds the Stone up high
And throws back her head.
“Eelinor!” she cries.
Her voice pulsates through the catacombs
Echoing louder and louder.
“Eelinor!” the princess cries anew.
The sound of her echoing voice
Forces her to one knee.
One hand covers her left ear
While the other still holds
The Stone of Aqua Green
High in the air.
The deafening noise circles around her
Surrounding her.
The intensity of the sound
Forces the princess down onto both knees
Upon the cold stone floor.
Still holding the Stone
In her raised arm.
Ilon gathers up her strength
Then throws back her head once more.
“E lin or!”
Her words echo beyond endurance.
Still clutching the Stone of Aqua Green
In her hands
The Princess Ilon sags to the cold stone floor
And falls unconscious.
“A Legend Awakens”
The vibrations pass through the rocks
Spreading down
Down through the core of the land
Searching...
The echoes of his name
Surround him, calling to him.
Two eyes suddenly flash open
Two ears, unused for centuries,
Begin to function once more.
Gauntlet covered fingers move
Tentatively at first
Then both hands clench
Into two mighty fists.
The armored figure rises.
A mighty warrior
One not seen for centuries.
No face can be seen
Underneath his helmet.
Just two white eyes
Which sparkle in the darkness.
An enormous sword is raised.
Its shimmering blade
Flashes into brightness
Which pushes away the gloom.
The armored warrior begins to walk
The shining sword leading the way.
Following a path it had forged
A thousand years before.
Above, in the dim corridors
Underneath the city of Eelin
Ilon lies still, unconscious.
The Princess does not know
That she has succeeded
In awakening a legend.
“The Battle Rages”
Nador and the Eelinian forces
Bravely fight on
Though the tide of battle
Swings against them.
The battering rams of the Berons
Have nearly broken through
The front gate.
Berons now climb from the top of the wall
In alarming numbers.
The Eelinites stationed on the wall
Bravely battle the oncoming foe
Nevertheless, it is apparent
That they will soon have to retreat.
The main gate finally gives in
To the onslaught of the Berons
Nador gives the order to retreat
And the Eelinian forces fall back
To regroup in the inner city.
“The Stone of Aqua Green”
The mighty warrior climbs upward
Through the passage he himself had forged
The passage which would lead him
To the surface.
The huge warrior can see a dim light
Glittering ahead of him.
He climbs to the mouth of the cave
He so long ago dared to enter.
Though the visor on his helmet shields him somewhat
From the blinding sun of a new day
He forced to cover his eyes with his arm
For it has been centuries
Since he has glimpsed the brightness of the sun.
The mighty warrior raises his sword high
And lowers it so it points in front of him.
The sword rotates slightly to his right
Seeking...
In the catacombs below the city
The Stone of Aqua Green
Suddenly bursts into a radiant light
A guiding beacon...
A similar light springs forth
From the Mighty Warrior's sword
Shooting off into the distance.
The light races across the land
Then arcs down toward the Castle Eelin
It breaks through the darkness
And streams down into the catacombs
Touching the Stone of Aqua Green
In a brilliance which lights up
The catacombs beneath the city.
With long running strides
Which shake the ground beneath him
The Mighty Warrior
Follows the streaming light
Swiftly making his way
Toward the besieged city of Eelin.
“Eelinor's Return”
The battle in the inner city rages on.
Many of the Berons now fight their way
To the outskirts of the castle.
The Castle guards fire their arrows
Upon the oncoming enemy.
The last defense of Eelin
Is now under attack.
The forces defending the gates
Fall back a short distance
To where the catapults stand.
Nador then forms a small band
Of Eelinian Warriors
Who begin to fight their way
Toward the Castle Eelin.
**********
The Mighty Warrior moves quickly through the tunnels
Underneath the Eenalain Mountains
Tunnels he had forged centuries before.
He bursts forth from the darkness
Then comes to a halt
For there before him stands his beloved city
Under siege.
He strides into the valley
A huge warrior, twice the size of any man.
He raises his sword up to the sky
A blinding light flashes forth
The Beron Warriors turn to see
The Mighty Eelinor charging into battle.
**********
Nador and his band of warriors
Soon reach the Castle Eelin.
The band of warriors quickly come to the aid
Of the beleaguered castle.
Above them in the morning sky
Bostack, the foul leader of the Berons,
Perched upon the back of the largest
Of the renegade Teracytes
Leads a swarm of these monsters
Toward the castle.
The castle would soon be under attack
From both the forces on the ground
And those from the air.
“The News Carries”
Word passes quickly,
Even while men are fighting
Whether it is good or bad.
Thus the news
Of an enormous warrior battling his way
Toward the walls of the city
Soon reaches Nador's ears.
Nador rejoices,
Then quickly gathers his best warriors
Giving them the task of battling their way
To the Great Warrior
And leading the Mighty Eelinor
Back to the Castle Eelin
Where he is most needed.
Nador himself will remain behind
And command the defenses of the castle.
The Eelinite Warriors, led by the loyal Ericz
Salute their leader
Then jump to their task
And are gone.
Nador's rejoicing
Is once again short lived
For several renegade Teracytes
Now circle above the castle.
The Berons perched upon their backs
Begin reigning arrows down upon the castle.
**********
The band of elite warriors
Fight their way toward the walls of the city.
No Beron who stands in their way
Survives their onslaught.
Gathering more warriors
They form a wedge
Which tears through the Beron forces
Toward the main gate of the city.
Outside the city
The Mighty Warrior battles his way
Toward the same destination.
Eelinor's blazing sword flies through the new day
Like a hawk chasing its prey.
The Mighty Warrior fights his way toward the main gate
And no Beron lives that stands in his way.
The Eelinite warriors
Who battle the foe who have entered the front gates
Hail the great warrior
A new hope fills their hearts
Adding strength to their limbs
And they begin to battle the Berons
With a new found fury.
“The Sacred Chamber”
Nador sees the Mighty Warrior.
Battling his way toward the castle
He once again rejoices
“Look!” he cries out to the warriors
Who defend the castle.
“The Mighty Eelinor returns
To save his beloved city!”
The Eelinite warriors begin to cry out...
“Eelinor! Eelinor!”
The Mighty Warrior strides toward the castle
Having left his escort behind
Eelinor walks toward the castle tower
Then effortlessly begins
To scale the wall.
The Teracytes circling the castle
Begin to swoop down upon the Mighty warrior.
Nador orders his archers
To concentrate their deadly fire
Upon the Teracytes who now attack Eelinor.
At one point the renegade Teracytes nearly succeed
In knocking Eelinor from the wall
A few well placed arrows, however,
End this threat.
Eelinor soon reaches the top of the great tower
Where a window is located.
Ripping the steel bars from the window
The Mighty hero then climbs
Into his Sacred Chamber.
Entering the Sacred Chamber
Eelinor reaches for the huge bow
Which hangs upon the wall.
Several quivers of sturdy arrows
Stand waiting alongside the bow.
Eelinor grabs the bow and two quivers
Then climbs through a trap door
To the very top of the Tower.
A gauntlet covered hand reaches for an arrow...
A once familiar touch...
Eelinor strings the first arrow...
The arrow flies from the top of the Tower
Felling a Teracyte.
More arrows fly from the mighty bow
More Teracytes fall to the ground below.
The renegade Teracytes begin to flee
The deadly arrows that fly
From the top of the tower.
Seeing the tide of battle turn against him
Bostack swoops down toward the tower
Ready to do battle with the mighty hero.
“Bostack's Demise”
Bostack's first attack
Knocks the Mighty Warrior to one knee
And thus begins a great battle
Atop the castle tower.
The whooshing, fiery sound
Of sorcery being unleashed
Fills the air above the castle
Along with the cries of the renegade Teracyte
And the swooping, slashing sword
Wielded by the mighty Eelinor.
The sorcery unleashed by the Beron leader
Upon the Mighty Warrior
Has little effect
Against the Eelinor's sturdy armor.
The renegade Teracyte
Succeeds in knocking Eelinor down
Several more times
But each time the Mighty Hero arises
And continues the battle.
The renegade Teracyte flies away
After another swooping attack
Eelinor rises once again and stands ready.
The mighty hero waits
Upon the descent of the Teracyte.
Ducking down low and spinning to his left
Eelinor thrusts his sword
At the attacking beast.
The mighty sword finds its mark
Plunging into the Teracytes side,
Underneath its wing.
The beast let out a terrible cry,
Spinning in the air above the tower
Then plummets downward
Carrying Bostack the Hideous
To his demise.
“The Tide has Turned”
Eelinor watches the Teracyte and its rider
Fall to the ground below.
Sheathing his mighty sword
He then swings his bow and remaining quiver
Across his back
And begins to descend
From the top of the Tower.
The Mighty Hero reaches the ground
Then strides toward the leader of Eelin's defenses
They meet
Nador of the Moonbeams
And the legend awakened, Eelinor
The eyes of the Mighty warrior
Flash in a brilliant radiance
Which is met by a similar light
From the eyes of Nador.
Their swords rise,
Then clash together
Sending a shining light
Streaming toward the sky.
A radiant light
Descends from their upraised swords
Surrounding them both
In a brilliant fluorescence.
The Eelinite warriors stand in awe,
Then begin a resounding cheer
The two shining figures stride forth
To vanquish the invading Berons.
With the two glowing figures leading the way
The Eelinite warriors rush forward
To rid the city of the foul Berons
And end the siege
Of their beloved city.
“A Legend Departs”
Ilon awoke in a daze.
A cloud of dizziness surrounds her
Struggling to her feet
The princess staggers through the corridor
Which leads to the staircase.
Her hand is still clutching
The Stone of Aqua Green.
She has no idea what has happened
Above her.
Ilon wearily makes her way
Along the cold and damp corridor
With the only light coming
From the fading torch
She holds wearily in her hands.
It takes all of her effort
To climb the cold stone stairs.
She finally reaches the door
Then pushes it open
And enters the castle beyond.
Ilon's ears are met
Not by the sound of clashing swords
And the shouts of battle as she expected
But by the sound of cheering men.
The princess rushes
Back to her bed chamber
Then quickly makes her way
To her window
And dares to look out
At the castle grounds.
Ilon's eyes grow wide
As she beholds two shining figures
Making their way toward the castle.
Followed by a number of cheering warriors
One of the shining figures is huge
Twice the size of a normal man
And the other...
Yes It is Nador
Nador of the Moonbeams!
“The Berons have been driven
From the fair city of Eelin!”
Nador cries out.
The resulting cheer of the crowd
Is deafening.
The princess rushes from her chamber
And down the stairs
To the entrance of the castle
There she meets the two shining figures.
The huge armored warrior
Comes to a halt in front of her.
With wonder in her eyes
Ilon realizes who it is
That now stands before her.
A hush falls about the crowd.
The Mighty Eelinor places his sword
In the ground in front of the princess
Then kneels down on one knee
Before the Princess Ilon.
A resounding cheer
Erupts from the crowd.
The Stone of Aqua Green
Which is still held in Ilon's hand
Begins to glow
In a bright radiance.
A flash of brilliance
Erupts from the Stone
Engulfing the legendary warrior.
In a blaze of shining light
The mighty Eelinor is replaced
By a radiant fluorescence
Which streams into the Stone of Aqua Green
Another flash of light
And the radiance fades
From the Stone.
Another thunderous cheer
Echoes through the castle grounds.
The people cheer
The now departed hero
And the courageous Princess
Who successfully called forth a legend -
The Mighty Hero Eelinor -
Who came forth from the abyss
To save the city of Eelin.
I'm sure that you put great effort into this epic poem of an epic battle. Unfortunately, I have too little time this morning to read this story poem in one sitting. As I did scan through, though, I came across many incidents of almost clichéd hero villain medieval battle plus supernatural that seems to be a part of all stories of this genre.
