A gentle breeze up on Rocky Flats
Up on Rocky Flats T’was a pleasant day
The Hogan’s invited us and we said OK
Bill wanted a vet to come test his herd
Everyone comes when Bill says the word.
Now the flats are famous for their gentle breeze.
It blows down telephone poles and trees
We had been working with cows all morning
the wind would gust and without any warning
These gusts would kick up swirls of dust
It’d get in your eyes and then men cussed
Often someone’s hat would fly
You’d try to grab it as it flew by.
In the barn, the ladies had fixed us a treat
Windblown and hungry we were ready to eat
“It’s time to eat lunch” we heard Bill Hogan say
We were lucky the wind hadn’t blown him away
While eating lunch, we could hear the wind gust
“That one was about eighty per” Leo discussed.
Sometimes the vent ln the barn would moan
It had a weird and eerie even scary tone.
When we were rested and lunch was done
Is was time to go back outside for more fun
Bill said “You should enjoy this fresh air it’s so great”
Lynn replied “It sure is if you don't hyperventilate
