I'm really not sure what inspired this, or how I even started thinking about it. The first line literally came to me as I was... I guess in a daydream daze for a moment? I can't honestly remember, but the line inspired much more.
The line came to me in a musical form, so I retained that with the rest of the poem. I plan to record myself singing it when I can afford to get a good enough microphone to do that. Something like a Yeti.
The Tale of the Demon King
In a world of rusted sails,
There is a keep with twisted nails,
It has a flag that's frayed and torn,
In which a demon king was born.
He was quick to take the throne,
Stripping everyone to bone,
None could thwart his strength and power,
The world upon the eleventh hour.
With everything so bleak and dire,
The world was now aflame with fire,
The Gods were forced to intervene,
With such a devastating scene.
They called for those willing to fight,
But they were all struck down with blight,
It seems their plan was doomed to fail,
Down to the final warrior's wail.
Just as it seemed all hope was lost,
No one could estimate the cost,
The Gods were left with just one plan,
Give up their powers and become a man.
They forged their powers into shield and swords,
And then came down through glen and fjords,
They've come to face the demon king,
And destroy his everything.
The battle fought was costly too,
And in the end remained a few,
They were victorious in the end,
And that's the final word my friend.

A well rhyming and heroic tale of the fight between good and evil. If you do get it recorded it may be used in one of those comic book legendary wars that go on in popular movies these days. Keep writing from your thoughts like this. They are inspirational.
This is a good poem and will work great as lyrics. You should write more of it. And concider writing fantasy with a Norse theme. Anyhow, I’ve always had a rough time finishing writing longer than a poem. It’s easier for me at least to say a lot in a few words rather than say a little in a lot of words. But once I found my style of writing the words keep flowing. Maybe this is your style of writing lyrics/poetry. Manowar-style. 🤘
