" The best form of defense....is attack ! " ................................................................... Stay on the offensive throughout life Display all your passion and zeal Have the courage of your convictions And brook no compromise with evil Know you have it within you To realise all your dreams Sometimes the enemy creates illusions To test your mettle and defense Always do the unexpected And confound the opposition again and again Varying all your tactics and methods Variety is the spice of life Strike out with utter determination Never allow the darkness to overwhelm you God has equipped you with all your assets Deploy them skillfully to fulfil your ends Remain steadfast on your front foot And you'll win each time , with margin to spare Copyright by Peter Paton 2005

Great write for Boxing Day, Peter! :)) I love the spirit and attitude coming through in the last few poems of yours I have seen. They are sparse and didactic and altogether of a different tenor, it seems to me, than your earlier stuff this year. Do you train athletes, by any chance? Reminds me of Paul's words about "running your race to win". But of course... why bother otherwise?! Great stuff. TY Kate xx

GRIZZLY! I hug GRIZZLIES! Did you know the polar bear uses its paw to cover its nose so that it appears all white to camouflage in the snow to disguise itself to the seal when it is just about to pounce. We must blend in to confuse the predator. Complete Victory is survival of the fittest. A winning poem, Peter!
