I awakened to the soft touch of a gentle hand on my forehead

Softly sweeping my hair back from my brow

The vermillion Martian sun dazzled my slowly opening eyes

Revealing the silohuette of a Paracelsus sylph

With diamond shaped eyes and flowing brown tresses

She sponged my parched lips without uttering a sound

And fed me with unfamiliar luscious wild fruits

Feeling the comfort of her warm breath on my visage

I broke the impasse and asked her name

Xanadu she answered, and I come from beyond the stars

Taking me by the hand, she led me to her charge

A sapphire studded beast of burden, that could carry two

I clung to her waist, as we headed west

We travelled the lava encrusted plains towards Olympus Mons

Skirting the cratered uplands, we reached campsite just before sundown

A concealed underground cavern with honeycombed layers

That had the capacity to withstand a nuclear winter

She explained she was a celestial emissary

From a planet of Galactic Gods

Who had destroyed their own bastion, with words and rage of pride

Struck by her beauty, and her Andulusian ways

I felt myself swooning under her charm

We bathed in hot geysers waters that sprang from the core

I felt as if in a dream, surreal and psychological

The dulcet tones of her voice, and mesmerizing body took its toll

We were swept together by the swirling warm eddies

And entwined together in magnificent passion

The heady concoction of love and mystery suffused and rivetted us as one

Signals of knowing flashed between our transfixed eyes

We kissed and coupled as if in a trance

Conception took place, in a maelstrom unique

She called out my name in the heat of passion

Alluring native tongue not known to man

I reciprocated in full, and gave her my strength

The magical spell was cast, and retrieve was our astral mission

As she whispered in my ear, prophecy is answered

Our child will be born

He will unite all warring factions

And the bruised reed will be saved forever

And the swift passage of time

Will never be the same

As we my divine love,

Have found each other at last

A futuristic Crossroads kind of passion on a crust of a different land, time, and place, Peter! Wonderful image as each flawless line unfolds this epic right before our eyes. This is dramatic novel potential! Rolling the reels in my mind, I can visualize this on screen.

"Alluring native tongue not known to man." This is a new spin on foreign dialect that I can actually hear her calling the name, climaxing, echoing NOVEL, Peter! AHHHHHHHHH....

They say Mars is red for a reason, and WOW, that's one hot sculpture you chose for an intergalactically red-hot poem Bro. Peter!

"Our child will be born"

If the meaning of this is the dying of self in order to save our brothers and sisters, then I applaud this vision of unity and creation of a better life for all.

the hope of unity can indeed come from our willingness to seek peace and do mercy and our openness to others sent by the galactic God. Peter, your knack for finding just the right word or turn of phrase anchors this visionary poem and leaves its images planted like a flag on Mars. great work. Dawn
