Poem Artwork

" Paper Roses
Paper Roses
Oh how real those roses seem to be
But they're only imitation,
Like you imitation love for me "

.............................................................................................

Circumnavigating the blue earth, I survey the celestial splendour above and below

from within my silver machine, as I race with the speed of a bullet through eternity

I am content to be a child of heaven, pointing out vociferously towards the stars

the man in the moon is my best friend, as I drink in the sulphurous milky way

from this vantage point, I can see the utter folly and recklessness of man

hell bent on eliminating the harvest of mother nature

as their narcissic egos brush up against death

blind and oblivious they are to their own deceit and manipulation

I enter another entry in my worn and thumb marked journal

" Too bad they put all their money in stocks and shares "

they will find out one day too late, they were really meant to share

how quickly the fallen star has corrupted their hearts

and turned them away from the one who ransomed his life

I pause, and take another sip of rich grenadier

lost in the maelstrom of time and circumspect

weightlessness teaches me what goes up, must come down

lets see what crumbs of comfort may be left behind

when all is said and done

and mankind has had its reckless fun and play

as I plot a realigned course away from the asteroid belt

zipping through Van Halen's into outer space

I feel a warm and satisfying glow within

perpetual silence and infinity lie ahead

streaming through the corridors of infinity

leaving hell far behind me in my wake

like a stroboscope, pictures and memories whirl before me

recurring dreams that I know off by heart

just what is the cryptic message I still have to decipher

are you like me, washed up on the shores of sentimentality and affection

though sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind,

a dichtomy yes, but nevertheless very true

don't be concerned with your make up,

that's just the way you are made

you have to make the best of what you have got

and now as the solar flares light up the galaxy of my mind

I rest my weary head on my alchemist's pillow

and the sandman sprinkles my cabin with magic dust

and when I awaken, I will open that door marked love for you
