Another Knight’s Tale

By: Felix L. Perry

Upon the fog shrouded moor in silence rode the ghost

This Knight of the Blood Red Cross rides alone

Hear his ghostly moans of anguish in the mist

Poor soul na more to find the castle he called home

Tis many miles from Jerusalem and the Holy Land

The stench of the Crusade named under God

Soul guilty but sickened by the slaughter of the innocent

To which Popes and Bishops gave their righteous nod

Once round table boasts of heroic chivalry

Raise the banner heroes one and all that fight

Not til later did tears mix with blood on armor

Forever dooming him alone to ride the dark of night

And the men of God disguised in robes and alter light

Tonsured liars later spread their stolen epic tale

Quickly to be swallowed by the hungry believers

Who loved the man of the cross and nail

Till history the truth finally revealed

Of that blessed genocide of days of yore

Now the specter Knight of the Blood Red Cross

Is finally freed to rest forever more…

Yeppers, the word of love spread on the point of a sword, a blood-feast celebrated by the sons of those who cry "Hail Mary" century after haunted century, while one scarlet-clad man rides in the Pope-Mobile, overshadowing God, preaching peace while he divides and conquers the world. His Vatican Libraries fill with the spoils of war while our cemeteries fill with peaceful worshippers. Perhaps there is one final job for the Knight of the Blood Red Cross, before he rests.

An amazing pen, Fee, as always!

An excellent Epic.
It has always sickened me how the crusades were conducted all under the guise of popes and kings for greed, money and the ultimate...The Holy land, what changes!!!
The amount of insurrections mounted in the name of Jesus these days is so ridiculous, you'd think the world would've wised up by now, but no, ppl still think what they think...
I know what I think!!
:) Big hugs
Ch'erie

Felix,
this sad tale of yore game me pause to actually think (which I do as little as possible these days)
once we Christians tried to claim the world for Christiandom and save the infidels in the name of Jesus.

"Soul guilty but sickened by the slaughter of the innocent
To which Popes and Bishops gave their righteous nod"

Is what the world is experiencing now only revenge for attrocities commited upon the innocents of a strange and foreign land?

Who are the infidels now?

Walt

Fee,
You are an extraordinary poet! I loved this, so sad and yet the ending granted freedom to heaven.

You have lifted this poor maiden's heart with the salvation of her knight.
