It has been a great pleasure to work with Rebecca to do this heart stirring ballad of yore based on her short story...A Kingdom's Sacrifice

The Kingdoms’ Secrets

By: Felix Perry and Rebecca Lerwill

Oh my dearest sweet Lady Julyia

I dare not say to thee what plagues this poor knight’s mind…

How can I tell you that even in the midst of war’s embrace

The memory of thy beauty kept the bleakest thoughts at bay

When the knights of the Sacred Union bravely rose to war

Achingly I looked back at you from my black steed on that day

Still fevered from thy velvet lips that hath graced my cheek

When I pledged my allegiance to death for thee I’d gladly go

With the wanting of my princess Julyia’s love held deep inside

A thousand forbidden fantasies that thou shall never know

Sir Algernon ~ my warrior

Protector of my kingdom and my life

dutyifully you stood thy guard

no harm touched me ~ nay, but my empty heart’s still scarred.

Many years hath flown like waters along an endless sea

many tears have I shed frightened when away at war were thee

But never have I been so scared, not even while you were away

my bleeding heart is screaming words I have to keep at bay.

Oh as the Gods be my witness to my adoration

And the Angel’s in heaven sing thy praise on high

As the even the stars cannot equal your beauty

Oh foul be the winds that hear my heavy sigh

For to my ear in the midst of every battle’s rage

Though thine love be not truly mine to covet

In my dreams together our love…

 will somehow write another page

Sir Algernon...proud knight

Thy glorious presence…my lonely hearts’ delight

To die for me you would scarify your blood

To stay and be my guardian you will not

For thee time has come to carry on and part

Take with you the pieces of my broken heart

As to my knees I fall, devastation drowns my soul

Lost in the sea of tears, no other man could possibly console

“…Alas so doth the story end, so too must it be.

Nay, not happily ever after as the fable makers and bards would have it, but for the good Sir Algernon must ride with his love locked inside inside the chastity belt around his heart, forced to roam forever…spending his passion in the devotion of war.

Aye, ‘tis true , the sweet Lady Julyia returns to the wed a man who will bring peace to the kingdom but never passion to her bed chamber or love to her heart…
