Poem Artwork

I sit alone

so afraid

unsure of tomorrow

unsure of even myself

I do pray

maybe not formally

more one on one

with a higher power

I grow weary

wondering if

today will bring the

proverbial last straw

I weep tears

as strength ebbs

heartbeat trembles

laughter fails to be funny

I hear voices

angels or demons

calling me home

a better place or not

I shiver as

cold rain extinguishes

what joy remains in

embedded embers

weakly pass the dying

flickers of my life flame…

I can relate to these feelings, Fee. It's a world in chaos and it's not really happy. Love and peace,

we come into this world alone (although Mother & Doctor are actually present-but we do not know this at the time) & with this in mind I know I too will leave this worlds womb alone & cease my fears for the comforts of feeling I will be greated as in birth on the day of my death....it will be beautiful

Dying flickers? No way. Embers waiting to burst into flame again. The burden of life is felt heavily by those of a creative bent. But don't let it smother joy--even though the shadow lengthens by the weight of understanding--it knows not time. Dark and introspective write that many can relate to(moi, included)...

Dark...sad...and I think I've been there a time or two. You write from your heart...it's one of the reasons why you are so loved here on AD.

This is truly a sad write cuz. We still have to count the blessings of what we do have, that so many others don't. The material things we have around us are not as important as we once thought. Its all the little things that now count...the love of our spouse, our grandchildren as they reach out for us and say grandpa, I love you. That special friend who is always there no matter what. Nothing is more important than these, nothing can replace the love they offer.

Love you

Very sad Felix. I know it's a cliche to say "I've been there many times", but it's truth. Your life is a beautiful gift you are graciously sharing through your amazing poetry with all of us who love you....my friend, you are NEVER alone.

Hugs & warm wishes,
Anna

Truly dark thoughts which don't seem to go with that marvelous picture. And I truly hope some light and happy ones soon replace these.

When alone and hearing voices inside your head it is time to call the cavalry bearing a few Coors and Captain Morgan's rum, the blue should be left alone down in Baton Rouge.

Oh Fee, this really cuts deep into the core. Never, ever give in! Always search for the spark, the twinkle, the flame that burns bright bringing us back into the "today". Grateful for all that is yet to come. Surrounded by all who care and love you....

Be always safe,
Karen

This is so sad. A sad tale of so much given up on, it breaks the heart. The light of life and art should always burn within and come out just like this, a revealing of the soul.

I'm not sure what to think Fee. I love the brooding honesty of the poem but after reading the other messages left to you, I wonder if it isn't a keyhole vision into your mind. I feel like such a voyeur but in spite of it, I look and my heart just wants to wraps itself around you and make it better. I think most writers (especially poets) and musicians (as well as actors, comedians, painters...) suffer from the lowest lows that depression can bring. Perhaps that is what makes us so sensitive and able to communicate the pain to others. Either way, I am feeling you. I too, will add your name in my prayers. Love to a man I do not know, but would feel the loss should he go! Teresa

The great hereafter is something we will all one day experience my friend. In the meantime, live and love life and remember: God loves you and so do I. We are mortals, we are fragile, and we are not in control of our fate. The clock is ticking for everyone; when it till stop, nobody knows. Live the minutes to the fullest.

I like the picture because of the way he's looking at a point not in the camera's eye, just as in the poem, the narrator is looking inside where other people can't see. A profound expression of despair. Been there. e
