Always dreamed about living in a shack on a beach...corny but still would love to be able to do it someday.

Beach Shack Dreaming

Baby, I put a thousand dollars down today

For a beat-up old beach shack on the sand

There’s a red eye flight that leaves tonight

And you know I’ll be there when you land…

No need to pack too much luggage baby

Just some shorts and a bikini or two

Maybe that sexy strapless, white dress I love

Which, looked so damned good on you

We can dine on lobster, clams and scallops

Steamed on a beach fire in sea weed

Share coconut drinks and salty kisses

You and me by the sea is all I need

We can share a dance on sand below the stars

There’s something about waltzing in bare feet

You can leave city dirt and smog behind you

When we watch a sunrise, front row seats

Salty brine breezes on our hot naked skin

Wave-song music to lull us off to sleep

Guitars and beach-fires every evening

All my whispered poetry yours to keep

Till we’re old and gray and memories

Are but treasured heirlooms in our heart

Please take that red-eye flight to paradise

Oh girl let’s make life a brand new  start…

Beautifully done, Fee. There's something appealing about giving it all up for simpler times and less complications. Your poem is romantic with a haunting touch. Love and Hugs,
Sheila

Wonderful dream and great imagination. I wish someone can whisper poetry into my ears while relaxing on your beach.

Fee, I would love to do the same, but I need that special someone to live there with me...:) I love this poem, I agree with Kate, it could be a song sung with your wonderful guitar.

Much peace, love, and light,
Amber "V"

SEA SHANTY!!!!!!!!!!!! I tried to copy and paste the photo of my very favourite place from my old poem "Question", about living on a houseboat/beach shack that look remarkably like this one, Felix! It wouldn't take, but my this takes me back to that poem and I adore yours!!!!!!!!!!!! Everything about this sings and is picture-postcard wish-you-were-here real. One of your very best, and so richly evocative and felt. Sounds totally divine but the line "all my whispered poetry yours to keep" is heart-melting to a poetry-lover! Who could ask for more? This sexy, strapless white dream looks good on YOU! :)) The cornier the better...

my friend has such a shack we visit, doing many of the things you mentioned ... living there would be a trip (except in the cold ;) ... your poem captures the emotional atmosphere and festive event of such a place ...

You'd best do that down south somewhere, because if you did it in the area you live in, you'd freeze your, well you know, off...e

Don't know about owning a shack but a weekend romping on the beach alone with my wife sure was a delight and it wasn't only the waves that were pounding.

She was quite capable of taking care of herself...She appreciated everything he was doing for her and the Grandmothers Four, but she needed his help, not for him to take over.
