Sometimes mother nature seems to have a mind of her own but like most women keeps open the perogative to change it at will....

Poem Artwork

The Storm…

By: Felix L. Perry

North wind howls and the ice pellets crack

against the window like rapid fire shots

the cold penetrates the secret hidden cracks

permeating the old, whimsical beach house

each gust threatens to erase its history

doors are bolted, fortified and shutters closed

to protect the frailty of a treasured touch

Outside a blanket of white with a half inch of ice

covering it like thick clear vinyl the kind

old ladies tended to cover their settees with

the blanket extending its reach down to the crashing surf

where ocean refuses to cede another inch of what is his

there is solitude no footprints fall nor sea gulls call

only roar of a feral wind and angered surf

Inside candle glow dancing with flames of fire

d-cell music soothes the nerves of hearth and home

red wine takes away the edge of last night’s fears

as arms embrace and the world past shuttering door

ceases to exist except a glance, the privacy of offered lips

that yearn and lust for the love so long denied

sunrise winds surrender to love’s overpowering force

tantrum throwing waves bow in supplication

in shame apologize to a morning kiss…

Too much beauty for an apology.

let the apologies begin & begin & begin...
the pic is wonder & a very nice place to be held
by winter's storm & also those romantic storms inside to also embrace...

Shucks if it weren't for that wonderful glass of wine and thee beside me - winter [especially as you've described it] would bite, frostbite that it! Most enjoyable.

God bless you. Kathy

Walt Hardester is a trip. Funny!

Your poetic verbs rush over one's emotions like a first winter's snow. I've always been the one who never minded being snowed in. I've never had the chance to experience snow at the beach although if I were with a powerful man such as you....I wouldn't be scared a bit.

Great visuals.

Blessings!

Now THAT'S a Storm I like! Send any unwanted snow down Texas way, we've forgotten what it looks like! Beautiful image and write, Fee.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Oh Fee! to be in a cabin surrounded by thousand miles of human emptiness where only snow and wind and mountains and shores are the company, where a howl will be heard now and then and not a single lie...
Then, the storm can come, knock on the door all it wanted without making that candle to flicker.

"The Storm" shines like the ice covered snow.
I've known many a relationship just like this, but they don't always end with the tantrum bowing in supplication or a morning kiss, more like a raised middle finger in the night.
