For those who love the mystic of mermaids and sailors...

A Sailor’s Tail

Now ‘twas back in the winter of ‘73

That when it was oh yes indeed

Near on to a lonely Christmas Eve

Aye, tis a story you should heed

I was a young sailor out of Halifax town

On the cold North Atlantic Sea

Strange be the sights that haunt the night

As ‘neath the Northern Lights, sailed we

We’d been four months in open waters

‘Twas lonely, this seafaring life

They say for some the sea’s a mistress

For others perhaps a life long wife

Aye but I digress now with distress

I’ll tell you my story as ‘tis true

When I first made love to a mermaid

Oh the prettiest shades of green and blue

We’d been becalmed for many a day

I went on deck to smoke me pipe one night

Our ship’s bell rang the midnight hour

With nary another soul within me sight

Twas then I heard a splash off our starboard bow

Aye, and a wee a voice spoke out of the fog

“Ahoy, ahoy sweet sailor boy, please do not be coy

Will ye join me for love upon my mermaid’s log?”

Well who was I to even question why

This vision offered willingly to me that night

So I ditched me jersey and bellbottoms

Aye, no need to ask if it ‘twas wrong or right

All through the dog hours we made love

Sweetest wonders ‘neath her scales she bared

To thee that wonder how mermaids loved

It’s a secret I vowed can ne’er to shared

We parted ways but to me aged and dying days

I no more, nay never will forget my aqua girl

Aye some say it were just a sailor’s dream

but to me she was my sexy ocean pearl…

OMG... I've just posted a poem about what lies on the blue-green edge of our fields of vision!! Mermaids and sailors apparently!! :)) Just off the port-side... Gotta luv this one, Felix. We were born with webbed feet and silver scales slipping through our fingers. You're definitely in your element here. Love the lilt and lyric in this seafaring song. xx

or those who love the mystic of mermaids and sailors...
That would be me.
I spent some time by the ocean this past summer- dreaming.
Much enjoyed.

A good Christmas present for many an old sailor that thinks dreams and sailors tales are just legends of the past, but...
"...To thee that wonder how mermaids loved,
It’s a secret I vowed can ne’er to shared" if you just would whisper that in my ear...

Georg
