No lights shining in the windows

Of the house across the street

Snow building on the front lawn

I wish we never had to meet

I can feel the snowflakes falling

In the street-light shadows cast

I watch alone in my lonely vigil

This will be my last loveless night

We once promised love eternal

So long ago, but just yesterday

Eternal ended just last summer

She said I’d forget her someday

In their bed I hope she was happy

I wonder if she dreamt at night

Of love we once shared together

When we held each other tight

The gun I hold has started talking

Saying more than words can say

Flash, bang, the conversations over

Un-silent night to greet the day…
