George was a blue heron who lived some where near our lake in Punta Gorda Florida.. He frequently visited us and was a friendly bird.
George came to visit one
day, but on the lawn
he did not stay.
Instead he flew to the
roof, where he patiently waited
for us to come our and give him his treat.
My husband went to the lake, caught fine a brim. George flew to the lawn where he quickly grabbed his treat, then flapped is long wings and flew gracefully away, perhaps to return another day.

Loved the verse and the photo. I don't really miss the heat of Florida but I do miss the animals, flowers and water. This would be a good poem for a childrens book too, Mary. You should put a book together for your grandkids. It would be a wonderful thing to give them. I hope to do that for mine, one day.
