I traveled to Italy near my Grandparents home a few years ago.
I could feel them calling me - calling me to come back home to my roots. Look closely at the shape of the poem - It is in the shape of an Italian Boot!

  -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My grandparents were born in the old country in southern Italy.

Land of sunshine, history, culture, and loving family ways.

"Johnyboy come home, I miss you" my Grandpa says.

However, I cannot see my Grandpa here on earth.

But someday I hope to see him in heaven.

Until that day the closest we will be,

is where Grandpa started our family.

                                              My heart longs to be

                                                        over the sea.

                                                            A spirtual

                                                            attraction

                                                            calls me

                                                          come back

                                                           come back

                                                            to be with

                                                              family in

                                                                  lovely,

                                                                      Italy.

                                                          I miss you Grandpa!

                                     With love, your grandson, Johnnyboy.

                                    --------------------

                                  -----------------------

                                     I have an Italian

                                heart and soul. Sometimes

I feel that I must go to

                                           Palermeo.

My grandparents were in France. I never got to meet them as my father emigrated to Canada (I'm glad he did.) Still. It would have been nice to have known them I suppose. Thank you for sharing these sentiments John. Love and peace,

Italy truly is a "home away from home". Follow your instincts and passions. Airfares are cheaper in January, February and March, so I encourage you to answer to the voices that are calling you to Italy. Maybe it is time for you to go and visit Italy, as it will inspire you to write more beautiful poems such as this one! My father used to use the words, "Danny My Boy" whenever he spoke to my brother. A lot of Italians speak that way. Your spiritual connection to Italy is strong, so go there and explore! Your poems is rich with memories, spirituality, and family connections. There may be seas and mountains that separate the USA from Italy, but it never blocks the connections that we have in our hearts. I am filled with joy as I read this poem. You really are an inspiration, with a deep devotion to your family, spirituality and traditions. I hope you write more poems about Italy, as your heart must be filled with so many memories! I love this poem, and I really admire your work! You will always missed your granfather, but his traditions and lessons will always be alive, as you stay close to your Italian heritage.

Goodnes, our spirits must be joined as I feel drawn to move to Italy, perhaps along the water's edge and Robert has been considering putting in a transfer to work out of Milan, but that will all take time. Fantastic write...

Be always safe,
