What I Miss
I miss the excitement of youth
The mystery of not knowing
The joy of winning the game
Being exhausted but happy.
My mothers supporting words
My brothers laugh and smile
The pursuit of the goal
The endless energy once mine.
Our house full of laughter
Carrying on with my friends
The smell of a warm barn
The kitchen wood stove
Swimming in the river
Climbing in evergreens
Fishing all day
Wandering through the woods
Doing nothing if I want
Sleeping until noon
Having the summer off
I miss being a kid.
