Looking back many children had wished they had a fighting mother, for them.
One hear of so many fiery little things that will confront ten time their powers to protect.
Oh may, if some of us had one of them fiery little things...our life could had been so different...

Poem Artwork

From flower to flower it was flying
a multicolored little hummingbird
in a beautiful but secret garden
bees domains where they labored.

It flew like it was a the child of the wind,
its wings didn’t move, just whispered
with the voice of many silent feathers
where dreams seems to be sheltered.

From tree to tree unrelenting searching
the snake towards the small nest slithered,
with the movement of a cruel stalker
silently in the sight of the prey was tethered.

This time wasn’t she around an apple tree
under which a man and a woman sheltered,
just little new born and feeble chickens that
calling for they mother trembling whimpered.

It wasn’t a good match maybe you will say,
a powerful snake against feathers that fluttered
how could she so little her young defend?
that’s what the viper for sure didn’t figured.

Even little ones can by despair moved to feel
they are without an escape and outmaneuvered,
and will fight a final battle with all they have
for even the most measly thing they treasured.

Where the snake was slow and powerful
it was fly dexterity in our hummingbird,
that with lightning movements right and left
her long beak the eyes of the snake shattered.

A small creature once again defeated Goliath
that didn’t want to be among the captured,
because there are nobody that’s more strong
than a weak one fighting to death undeterred.

The truth is seen in the best of man; not the beast.
I like the beast being overcome by the best heart.

I so appreciarte your poetic insights Georg, very moving story poem with wisdom & stength.
A Mother Robin attacked my pup Lightening the other day & yelling warnings at him to protect her fledged baby trying to climb back into the tree for safety. I never knew a Robin to do this & I was very happy since it is very hard for me to keep track of all these babies in my yard with my bird dogs. He know respects her & stays clear :)

This is a wonderful story. Physical size of a being or creature doesn't mater, what matters is the strength, the love, and the determination to succeed.

I love this one a lot!!! Thank you Georg!!!

A battle between a humming bird and a snake? This the stuff of myth.
What magnificent imagination!

How nicely described, the battle between the strong and the weak. There is a French proverb which says: "Beware of those weaker than you".

Hi WE, They don't know the power of love, huh?! I love how you use this scene to tell the story. I think that's how parents started to tell their kids the story about the birds and the bees! :) Thank you for sharing this from a heart of love and strength...

A small creature once again defeated Goliath.

So marvelous when this happens, and it seems to happen far more in the animal world than in the world of man. Your story reminds me of the tiny Chihuahua who was willing to die defending its friend from the giant cougar. I think creatures can truly teach us many things.
