Broken Promises

Every time, before we have a new emperor in our political dirty capital, the infirm, the poor and the veterans are promised better times and solutions for their problems.
But when push come to shove, the emperor will help the bankers that lost the few savings of the poor, do nothing against the infirm predators, and abandon the promises to the war veterans like old bloodied rags on a forgotten alley.
The emperor thought he had not a chance to reach the throne but what a way to make noise!
Well, the emperor was wrong, he got to sit on the throne with a new set of clothes that no one can see.

Poem Artwork

“Take off your new clothes”
we asked the naked emperor
you are not fooling anybody,
even yourself, not anymore,
our eyes are so tired, expecting
to see what was promised before,
when you had no chance to get
where you are now, on the throne.

We are the soldiers that were
the cannon fodder of each war,
we were cheaper than the bullets
killing “enemies” you didn’t fought
but the sons of waiting mothers
you promised would be return
to be thankfully tended back to life
and not like now, the ones you forgot.

We are the debris of every conflict
look over your shoulder, emperor,
they march the on country’s streets
and believe, they are a million strong,
which an Executive Order can make
to get right all that have been wrong,
granting one and every each of them
the claims they are rightful entitled for.

Indifference will force one of these days
War Veterans to march on Washington,
bearing on their shoulders your guilt for
hundred of thousands soldier’s ghosts,
so your shame will be completely naked
wearing the new clothes of the emperor,
the one that promised so much when he
thought couldn’t never reach, the throne.

Deals and wheels, and the chariots powered by the MULES of the DEMONS --cross the city of CRATS-- polluting the CONSTITUTIONAL GARDENS to make sure all the promises to deliver good in benefit of all, and each American become "Broken Promises".

I hope that one day soon, we learn that to be less bad than Mr. WORST is not a quality of an honorable citizen.

Thank you for being a Tribune to my voice in the city of indifference, where lies are just decorative items of the bench of injustice.

"Broken Promises", the poem, a poem whose words are Flags leading the reader to save America now.

Most appreciatively and respectfully,

Bless you Georg, you have a scalpel that does the work of a skilled surgeon getting to the infected organ and exposing the disease! This should be sent to every one in Government including the president,
and all of congress. How easily they forget thier campaign promises!

God bless you Brother Edvard the way you helped our brother Jersey Ed!Pee Wee kept me informed,I'm back home now...

This is a stunning elegy and damning testimony of an ever-present shame that is borne by the innocent and shunned by those vested with eyes that should see and power to change. Whatever those "new clothes" are made of, they seem to have the same effect on all world leaders who take these mantles on their sloping shoulders: they seem to produce the "hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil"-effect, or, perhaps conversely, the "hear/see/speak only that which is convenient and expedient"-effect. You are a Master, Georg. Of form, idea, concept and of colourful articulation and signigicant expression. Your word and your work counts. Bless you, Kate xx

Even the emperor knows that he stands naked and yet he feels clothed...this long fought battle of Veterans who are left with no help, no care, and no respect continues. When will it end? As long as man wages war there will always be the greeding bankers and war profiteers and also those who are left mending and or living with wounds....

Dear Joyce,

I hope you read the poem as it was written, with no bias or racial tones, but with anger generated after seeing the last of the returning Afghanistan soldiers to their home foreclosure and unemployments as well as a long way to recovery from their wounds in inadequate VA facilities to attend so many.
The White House Advisor's are a bunch of clever than thou crowd, because the Presidency ran with billions and trillions to rescue the financial elite under the disguise of protecting American jobs. What a joke!
Instead of using the money to purchase the mortgages that would have given the banks the money they were asking, helping the people to retain their property.
Also, the Presidency could had granted by a Executive Order 825.000 war veterans claims, some from back WWII, Korea and Vietnam. It would have been an act of decency.
My words in the poem stay put, because he should have act for the people not for saving the elite's behinds, and the fat bonuses they are giving themselves.
No, the emperor has new clothes! what a shame when I with all my heart tried to believe that "yes, we can"

GEORG, GEORG....ARE WE EXPECTING MIRACLES FROM MEN NOW? PLEASE CONSIDER; WHEN THE EMPEROR ASCENDED THE REEKING, BURDENDED LADENED THRONE IN HIS 'WELL DESERVED' NEW SUIT, IT MORE THAN OBVIOUS THAT IT WAS GOING TO TAKE MORE THAN SIX MONTHS TO CLEAN UP THE FILTH THAT HE MET THERE . PRAY FOR THE EMPEROR AND GIVE HIM MORE TIME. I KNOW YOUR ISSUE AT THIS TIME IS THE NEEDS OF VETERANS AND IT IS A VALID CONCERN, BUT SADLY YOUR ISSUE IS NOT THE ONLY 'PRESSING' NEED THAT WAS LEFT AT THE THRONE FOR HIM TO DEAL WITH. REMEMBER... HE IS NOT GOD...ONLY ONE MAN, WHO IS TRYING TO DO THE VERY BEST HE CAN IN THIS TIME OF VERY DIRE CIRCUSTANCES THAT AMERICA FINDS ITSELF IN. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT WRITE, FILLED WITH THE UNIQUE PHRASES AND IMAGERY THAT I HAVE COME TO EXPECT AND ENJOY FROM YOU. GOD BLESS AND THANKS FOR SHARING.

Georg, you always have a way of getting to the matter with your wisely chosen words. How true! How sad! Those that had been injured and those that had been broken fighting our wars, to be treated in such a shameful way.

i would agree with lorie moore, except drop the word american. where are those, that hold sway of moral compass and their folowers, it should not have need, for the veterans to march on congress, but those all, whose lives you defended. a great tribute my friend to sll those forgotten souls, bravo! jasmin horst

This could also be addressed to the Pentagon...the wasterals therein! There should be a law: for every war contract issued, 10 Mil$ would be deducted and given to a non-government-red-tape Vet's Rehabilitation Fund...off the top!
A true patriot you are Georg...with wise words...

There always seems to be money to give away to the ones the US/Canada is fighting against

But when it comes to looking after our own War Veterans the government seems to fall short SAD

We are the debris of every conflict

How so sadly and so horribly true, for far too long now. Perhaps we need to go back to a military draft, with no exemptions for any of our sons and daughters, including the offspring of our political leaders.

The waging of war, and the caring for of our valiant veterans might be looked on entirely differently by our 'leaders.'

When's enough going to be enough? We were sent or volunteered to go to war, and as usual, the first ones shafted are the very ones who defend our shores against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
